How petty can a Mod get?

HappyHour Avatar
8y, 6m agoPosted 8 years, 6 months ago
Someone has just posted a wanted ad for either a Wii or a laptop and a mod has closed it telling them to advertise for either one or the other and not for both!!!

Why?

How stupid and petty can people get?

The person is wanting these items but at the moment only has the cash for one, so let people offer what they have in the post and then let him/her make their decision based upon the offers in the thread.

Someone may post a good deal on a laptop and also a Wii, so let them make their decision, it is not hurting anyone, let them decide if the laptops seem more value than any Wii's offered or vice versa.

If someone put a wanted ad in for a car either a Modeo or a Focus would the mods close that and tell them to ask for one or the other?

A little silly really.

The mods on this site are in a league of their own.

How long before you have "Banned" under your username?

This is why Schindler didn't just say "The ways of Nazi Germany can be so brutal.".

Godwin's law Alert :)

It does seem a bit odd, check the rules and see what they say

The mods always have a reason for removing posts. If they have alreday explained this to you, you should post it here. If they haven't, you should ask. The wrong way of venting your frustration is opening a thread to call them names. I'd suggest that you at least remove the words "How stupid and petty can people get?"...

The post was not mine, I came across it and thought it odd that is was closed because a person was wanting 2 different items but only had the cash for one.

So they were looking for offers so they could make their decision.

I do think it is stupid that the post should be closed for no reason at all, especially considering a person is only allowed one sale/wanted post open at any one time.

I just can't get my head around the reason behind it.

As rayman has posted

(9) If listing a request a price is not needed, however sellers responding to the request are required to state a price. We do not permit threads such as “I have £x in my paypal account, what can you offer”. Any such threads will be locked. Buyers must state specifically what they are looking for.

And they wanted one of two things. And also wanted help with a chipped wii on how to use it which wasn't the right place for that anyways.
#8
yep as above perfectly reasonable

That's just for the same item...you can have as many for sale/wanted threads as you want as long as they are for different items

Wrong, wrong, wrong.
#11
lol, sorry.

But I still think it was a perfectly valid thread, they wanted a laptop or a Wii and had the cash to pay for it via PayPal there and then, so they were precise in what they wanted and not just a stupid random post of "I have £10 in my PayPal make me 7,000 offers and I will turn them all down" sort of thing.

Obviously the help part of it could have been turned down and told them to Google it or whatever.

[B]HappyHour - before you start slinging insults, perhaps you could have the courtesy to read the rules of the forum on which you are attempting to use.

So which rule does this come under?

A person is wanting one of two items and posted a wanted ad, I don't understand where the rules state you don't have a freedom of choice in your wanted ads?

Also I find it irrelevant where the funds were coming from, if he said I have £200 in his "pocket" and wants a laptop or Wii, whichever is offered best and most tempting I will take sort of thing.

Would it be left open because he did not use the word PayPal as his source of funds?

I just still don't get it.

If he opens two ads, one for a Wii and one for a laptop then that would be even more confusing as he can only choose one or the other, so it's best to be kept in the same thread so all can see his decisions as the offers come in.

No mate it was not like that.

He said he has £200 in PayPal and is after a LAPTOP or a WII, what can you offer?

He is specifically pointing out exactly what he is wanting, so that quote is completely off target.

Is was nothing like one of the PayPal stupid wanted ads where veryone offers 6 million items and the person wtih the funds never seems to buy anything, I agree that is stupid, but the ad I am mentioning was nothing like that.

Ahem! :whistling:

Yes it's a "i have xxx in my paypal thread" but they are only asking for one item, which i think would be considered ok

The rules are that if you suck up the mods backsides enough you can pretty much post what you like.

New users etc and those who disagree with said backside suckers get their views deleted/expired etc at will.

Should add that this doesn't apply to all mods.

Right ok, I think we are getting to the bottom of this one.
So I could of opened a thread stating:

I Got £200 in Paypal: Laptop Wanted OR
I Got £200 in Paypal: Modded Wii Wanted

Also, whats with the asking for advice? I was stating that I would need help from the seller on how the modded wii works, as he/she would know, having used one.

Yes, that is specifically written in the rules and we expect this from ever member of the forum. We also expect compliments, LOLs at our jokes, rep for every comment, and heat on every deal. Not much to ask, is it? :whistling:

with a modded wii you have to use it upside down or the chip wont work :):)

almost totally correct... wannabe mods moderate a bit toooo much making the site restrictive and overall annoying at times but I still think most of the real mods remain impartial.

Just try not to break the forum rules and the wannabe mods can moan/spam/report all they like..

Well, that's not very fair, is it? You seem to have a bee in your bonnet about someone. If you have a problem with a specific mod perhaps you should PM them. If you feel you need to email admin regarding the conduct of a specific moderator, feel free to use the contact us link at the bottom of the page.
