How to place O2 Wireless Box IV in DMZ mode?

Hi all,

I am still having massive problems playing FIFA 11 online on my PS3. All other games (BlackOps, Red Dead... etc) work fine, my net is quick and reliable, litteraly the only problem is playing FIFA11, where my games constantly cut out, connecting to head to head games is an issue and my online status is normally restrictive.

I have tried to open the ports, and i am using a static IP address on my PS3, but still the problem persists.

Original problem - http://www.hotukdeals.com/misc/expired-fifa-11-ps3-connection-prob/777405

So what I am asking for is any guides/help on how to place my O2 Wireless Box IV in to DMZ mode??

I am told this is the last resort.

Cheers for any help in advance.

Enable uPnP (Universal Plug And Play) on the router if it has the option and then the PS3 should have no issues.

It's the PS3 that would have to be in the DMZ if you did it that way but you shouldn't need to. Also ideally you shouldn't use Wireless for gaming. Wireless drops and dips in performance in most cases where as wired won't unless someone else is downloading/uploading through the router at the time.

Using wired.
it is already enabled for UPNP.

:-(

Strange. I don't know the router unfortunatly cos can't really help much further.

oohhh...

Reset your router to default/ factory settings (you will need to know how to set it up with your O2 details if not auto) and setup no port forwarding, no virtual servers place no IP in DMZ no mac address filtering.

Just enable UPNP and enable DHCP in router /save/apply etc.

on ps3 use AUTO settings for IP (do not use a static ip)

then test ps3 network settings. if it says upnp is available and finishes test with Nat Type 2 there is no problem with port opening etc and is a fault with fifa server/ host etc

sounds awkward on the o2 wireless box, there settings are confusing,
but will give it a try, thanks for ideas

upnp and static ips do not work together (on all equipment I own) I have over 20 modem/ routers

I own the iv box but I'm not with o2, just wanted one for £10 when on offer. the interface is a bit clunky like all o2 boxes i've seen so far but keep at it you only need to reset it to default so no things you have done to it are active then just enable upnp and dhcp.

test the wired on ps3 once you have got the ps3 getting an ip automatically from the router (this is done via DHCP server setting in router once enabled) see if you end up with upnp available and nat type 2 on ps3 status screen after test

But does any one have any advice/if its possible to place an O2 wireless box IV in to DMZ mode?
#10
yes by logging in as a superuser ask o2 how. or search google / did you test your ps3 if so what did it say (or could you not find the settings needed) ?if it said upnp is available and nat type 2 then (there is no problem with yours) it is who ever you are connecting / trying to connect to. If you cannot invite a friend it's their nat that is broken.

anyidea what is the user name and password for a superuser?
#12
i managed to log in to o2 wireless box 4 as a super user:

user name: SuperUser
password: serial number on back of box, (beggining CP...)

i go to assign a public IP address (DMZ) to my ps3, but the drop down list then doesnt let me choose my ps3!! so close!!!

any ideas would be amazing?

no ideas :-(

im so close to fixing the problem!! so frustrating!!

I know your pain ive been having exactly the same problem on the O2 wireless box!!!
Nat type 2 fine on every game other than fifa!

Trust me i have spent many, many hours on this and spoke to many people and i came to the conclusion that it is impossible!!!

Doesnt matter what i did it didnt work (had the sam dmz problem as you turns out it is not supported by O2 so wont work)

Good luck if you keep trying let me know if you find a fix!
#15
am in same situation! :(
#16
Same problem here. Can't connect to friends on FIFA 11. Tried so many things to fix it - nothing works!
#17
Same here again. Tried everything...Fifa 11 doesn not work online with the PS3.
Fifa always without fail says Restrictive or Moderate.
I have an o2 wireless box...Port forwarding DMZ all useless.
All other games work fine with an open Nat 2.
I have an Xbox using the same router and Fifa 11 works perfectly online. PS3 does not!

I am having the same problem with Everybody's Golf on the PS3. Other games seem fine, and all tests come back ok. Have even moved the PS3 into the bedroom as it means it is closer to the router, but still no luck.

What annoys me more is that it seems as though people with other providers are not having these issues which makes me think that it is something that O2 should be looking into, but instead they'd rather turn a blind eye.

you need to release and renew your ip, on a pc with windows you type "ipconfig /release" and then "ipconfig /renew" or linux with dhclient

i had such a bad time with it o2 and Fifa XII on the PS3, that i split up from my gf, moved out, got Plus Net broadband (amazing btw) and now it works perfectly :-) Happy times. I am not suggesting you all do that, but that solution worked best for me.

Also for some reason, my first game everytime cuts out around the 70/80 min mark of a game, but then i can play on lag free with no connection issues all night. So my online buddy always knows that the 1st game is a skills fest with ridiculous shots galore...

Back to work i go

Got the exact same problem :(

enable dhcp and enable upnp that's all you need to do but you need to remove any ip in DMZ you have wrongly setup or tried to and remove/ have no virtual servers or any portforwarding set up

I do and they are fine with upnp and dhcp enabled and work everytime I have set them up for people on ps3 and 360. (firmware dependant use latest)
