If they've given you the proper details you should be fine. Just gotta hope they send it :)
#2
Shouldnt you be asking before paying by BT if you are unsure? I would only use it for a seller I could be 99.9% sure of otherwise its a calculated risk.

thats what i meen what if they dont? what can i do?
#4
They need to give you the correct details for their bank account. If they don't then you can't pay them the money.

Nothing.

If the xBox doesnt turn up or isnt as descrbied the bank wont reverse the payment like PayPal would.

I would never do it again, I paid by BT on 17th April this year and have still not received the item.

I have had to report them to the met because they are frausters.

paypal is more discreet but thier fees are too high
#8
I've used BT a lot for a number of different sellers and also had people buy stuff of me via BT.

Its all about the risk thougj, I only ever do it for low value purchases otherwise the Seller would need to post first or have very very good feeedback.

Its not as simple as saying never, if someone has 110 positive feedback on here or AVForums I'd be happy to pay by BT. FOr someone who is on their 3rd post and wants £150 for a xBox Elite payment via BT its not genna happen.
#9
yeah the lower the post count/feedback from here or other sites makes me wary of bt but higher the feedback (not post count tho) makes me more apt to do bt.

For a long time i only took paypal but now i think i am trust worthy enough to take bt so this is my perferred method.

But if you dont feel its safe dont do it, tho only problem is you may get a neg and a ban for pulling out of a deal

it was on gumtree not ebay it wasnt much cheaper bout £10 less but how can i prove hes trust worthy
#11
oh god gumtree is a scammers heaven, dont do bt, if possible meet up

no he said he dosent use it due to fees and they took money out of his account without asking once. he did offer for me to pic it up
#15
where is he down south? you could bt the money to me and i meet him if he's close enough?
#16
Yeah I'm with allstar I wouldnt pay BT via anything from Gumtree or the like.
I only use it with "forum members I know" i.e. I would with allstar.

You have no knowledge of anyone on Gumtree so would stick to PayPal... Or will pay via BT on delivery.
If you really feel the need at least do half now half on delivery etc..

Note I am not saying the person your buying from is a scammer its just sensible precautions.

not that near/far. am in basingstoke in hampshire. about an hour i suppose. he could deliver to me and i give him money then send to you?
#20
Wheneve I pay with BT I always accept that there is the potential I could be getting scammed and losing my money.
If your happy with that and can afford to lose the money in worst case scenario then go ahead but depending on the saving your making you have to ask is it worth the risk. If you do go ahead think you should at least do half now and half on delivery

At least here or AVForums you have a bit more info on someone (post/trading history)

I had the same problem and contacted the police around December 06, have you heard anything back about it? I only got a knock on to door asking for more info in June 07 and nothing since then
#29
I'm pretty sure Parcelforce will charge you £14.99 for 48 hour delivery, £18.99 for 24 hour. Been using them quite a bit recently, they come and collect it and are really nice.

If you are doing DHL, remember 20% quidco. And interparcel has quidco i think.

Good luck, I hope you get it ok.

I spoke to somebody the other day and they said that the fraudster was up to their old tricks.

I'm waiting for a telephone call at the moment and I will ring them again tomorrow.

If I have to go to London, I will:roll:
