I'm not aware of the human rights act absolving children of punishment. Maybe you mean political correctness or health and safety:roll:

it is awful BUT...... why the hell was a 5 yr old out playing on her own ??????? where was her mother , especially if she had been attacked before?????????

i just find it hard why the mother would let her 5 yr old out on her own ,, i certainly wouldn't.

but i hope they get the boys and put them away ,, but i suppose they will get a slap on the wrists

Exactly what I was about to say. That's some spectacularly bad parenting to leave a 5yr old girl who's blind in one eye and almost blind in the other and who's dying of brain cancer out on her own. And rescued by neighbours, so she wasn't even being supervised? What would've happened if she'd collapsed?

No-one is a perfect parent, we don't know the full story even

What, you seriously think that if the boys had taken the girl away by force, they wouldn't have reported it? Everything I said was based on what's in the article.

I don't believe I said that :?

What I implied was that this is a media interpretation and I would like to know the ins and outs from the horses mouth.

Will make myself much clearer next time ;-)

No, what you said was that we don't know the full story and then you rolled your eyes, as if to imply that I am wrong in my deductions. If you think I'm wrong, what exactly is your logical take on the story? I mean, I see it as being a fairly typical tabloid reporting that's designed to draw attention to the publication by evoking as great a response of sympathy and righteous anger as possible, hence its emphasis on the girl's sob-story and attack, and total skimping over the context of the attack. They wouldn't have done this if there was a story to be had there, which implies to me that the girl didn't wander off in cancer-induced confusion or get abducted, but that she was just let out and left unsupervised. Something that plants a little bit of blame on the parent would lessen the sense of victimisation, hence lessen hits, and advertising revenue. But whatever, it's all just speculation, and if you prefer to be spoon-fed everything, fair enough.

I do have to question the "perfect parent" thing, though. I look after my cousin's dog whenever he goes away, and whenever he's in the garden, I just don't leave him unsupervised. Too much risk of him scarpering or being taken or whatever otherwise. Obviously, we don't know how long this girl was left out unsupervised for, but it does sort-of imply that I look after a dog better than this woman looks after her daughter, and that strikes me as kinda bad.
