How to clean LCD/plasma screens

Hi. I have one of each and they are both dirty as my children keep putting dirty hands on them. How do I clean them? I am worried about using normal cleaning agents and a wet cloth does n't seem to do it. Are there any special wipes etc. you can buy for the job and if so where do you get them from? Many thanks

Quite a funny thread but no actual hints other then baby wipes and not sure I would use them. Can anyone suggest where I can actually get some cleaning wipes from?

I tried it on my computer monitor lcd, and its left stains where the spray made contact.

We have recently had a huge plasma and we had the same trouble, everything i tried just made the screen worse, in the end and the best thing ive found is hot water and vinegar, rung out and wiped over, comes up brilliant, needs to be buffed up with cotton teatowel.

most plasmas i believe have a glass panel in front of screen, though i know my LG has some type of plastic and i use baby wipes followed by one of those dust cloths. My screen doesnt have a mark on it and thats after countless children sticking their dirty hands all over it.
If you are unsure it will tell you in the tv manual on how to clean it.

I have three lcd tvs and find the best thing (from instructions in one of the manuals) is a tiny (I stress tiny - couple of drops) amount of washing (laundry) detergent in a large bowl of water, use a microfibre cloth and wring out until almost dry. I usually then dry it off completely with one of those large microfibre covered sponges which leaves less smears.

I used to use just water, but the detergent really makes a difference. Especially where childrens handprints are concerned.

Plus it doesn't cost hardly anything.

Please can anyone show me what a microfibre cloth and microfibre sponge look like?

You can get them from Wilkinsons, they are not expensive. I think I got 3 for about £2 last year.
