Who do you bank with? as most banks use the fast payments system now, if you have telephone banking then you can do it over the phone and if the two banks are signed up to the fast payment system the money is virtually transferred instantly, so the company doesnt have to wait 3-5 days for the money and there is no charge, have a look here

If you are paying a company, they usually send a giroslip.

There are two parts to it, sending faster payments and receiving them, some banks are only set up for one. Depents on that one mate  but ace link to check just noticed that there :)

But yeah if its a completely diff bank from yours then ask to do a CHAPs payment although there sometimes is a charge for that, or bankers draft... again a charge, or if you have telephone banking like mike said its free, or if you have internet banking do it through that or set up a one off standing order :thumbsup:
