An internet connection.
Any wireless router.
Opera web browser for the Wii to access 'normal' internet pages i.e. google
And that's it!

I don't own a Wii but my sister has one. I didn't realise that you have to purchase Opera browser!
I think she might have had the beta version which was free? I dunno

Did you have to purchase Opera?? When i downloaded it it was free and yes it took ages to download!!

You could initially download the beta version for free, as well as the final release for a few months - although you now have to pay (500 points I think?)
#5
how many points does it cost?

Many thanks to all,
I have an internet connection and a wireless router, tried to connect the shopping channel but the wii does not seem to want to connect to it. I have entered my wep encryption so was thinking I needed another gadget to plug into the back of it. The room the wii is in does not get my wireless signal very well, so this may be the problem.

Many thanks
One other question, where do I get the stars ?

If you visit the Nintendo Europe website (http://www.nintendo.co.uk/) you can register your Nintendo products using the VIP 247 scratchcards that come with your games and consoles, and receive stars in return which can be traded for Wii points or a range of Nintendo related merchandise.

You could connect by cat5e network cable from your wireless router to the wii but you would need to purchase a wii usb lan adaptor (about £12-£15). No connection issues then.
