I have washed the bag in the machine with loads of fabric conditioner and Ive also sprayed it with bottles of purfume!...and it still smells!

Im not a smoker myself and the smell doesnt seems to want to shift.

If anybody has any advise in how to get rid of smoke smells I would be very gratefull!

Many Thanks!

Febreeze?

My mum smokes and I hate it so I usually end up using Febreze to get rid of the smell from fabrics when I bring something home from hers!
#3
Thanks!
Ive already tried every spray known to man/woman...I think

It's not going to be easy as it will probably have been marinating in the stuff for months!
Can you wash/shampoo it?

This site: http://www.tipking.co.uk/tip/4601.html reckons you should sprinkle baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) over fabrics and hoover off after a few hours - but worth testing on a small inconspicuous area first to make sure it won't affect the fabric.

Have you tried filling it with bicarbonate of soda for a week then hoovering it out. then adding a few drops of an essential oil that you like, such as lavender or tea tree?
#7
Yeah thanks! I'll give it a go!
I have to make sure I rinse it thoroughly though, I dont want to be walking in public with it when it starts to rain and soap suds start to bubble :-D

try bicarbonate of soda or put cat litter into a sock and leave inside for a while( also good for shoes) then give it another wash also once u've done that u could place in a plastic bag with a tumble dryer sheet x good luck

just buy a new one

lol kinda true.

There is a reason people put "from smokefree home" on items - its because its near impossible to completely get rid of it.

You can mask the cigarette smell by smoking a cigar.

(Seriously, though, bicarb of soda)

I'd leave it on the line for a day in the fresh air and then possible wash it again. horrible isn't it!

We come back from my parents and it's all in the shower and clothes in the wash, don't get me wrong we love them just can't stand the smell of smoke

Know its weird but some white vinegar in the bath, fill with hot water and steam the bag over it on one of those clothes horse thingies for a few hours, should disappear

I was going to put that! Bugs me that I have to wash their coats too, its a pain aint it. They dont go often as it is because of the smoking, Ive asked my mum not to smoke around the kids and her attitude is its her house and she'll do what she wants, she wont even stand on the doorstep. Dont get me started on my mum and smoking!

Also some smokey smells can be caused by black packaging bags, mad but true. Some can cause a really ciggy smell.
Usually a good airing on a dry line will get rid of it if this is the cause.

+1 :)

My OH smokes and I have always hated cigarette smoke...

I find letting something hang on the line outside and the wind blowing through it the best way to get rid of that old ashy smell.

LOL, that made me laugh!

Almost, I certainly make him sit outside when he smokes :)

He doesn't take in the fact, I don't like the kids to see him smoking, didn't want them growing up thinking it was cool. Fortunately none of them have chosen to smoke.

Just when I've been near him while he's smoking and then I can smell it on MY hair and clothes.... find that icky!! Though obviously I've come to associate it with him so don't hate it anymore but I literally did at first.
