How to give my 360 RROD?

Don't know if i can ask this but here goes...Basically my 360 stopped working, no video coming through on tv, although i can get audio. Tried different cables and different tv's. MFR was 2006 so no warranty left, although i can get it fixed for free if it has RROD. I've been trying the 'towel trick', had it on for over 10 hours today but still no RROD. Any other ideas.

People usually go to sleep overnight.
I wouldn't advise someone to wrap a towel around an electrical item and leave it on overnight.

Maybe i'm a bit over cautious.

note: if you want to do that (put the disc in) it might scratch the disc as your moving it

Just fill out the form on xbox.com for 3 RROD, in the comments, say it is intermittent. Say sometimes E74, sometimes Nothing, Sometimes 3RROD... No problems, it will be repaired/replaced.

Why not instead of causing the RROD just tell them it has it!

So when i send it back to microsoft -
1.do i have to pay for the shipping myself?
2.do i have to find my own box to send it in?

1. not if it has rrod
2. yes. don't use your original box if you want it. they sent it back in a different box.

P.S. most console repairs are actually replacements (refurbs) these days...

keep on holding in the eject button loads of times and it will eventually get RROD after about 2 mins - works for me
