Hi all,

Very new to this. Have just got an Xbox 360 arcade machine and have noticed people mentioning that they are able to play backed up games and protect their originals.

Can someone advise how this is possible and what is required to do it along with any placed to have it done if cost effiecient and safe from messing up your machine.

Many thanks in advance

You need to modify the firmware on your xbox's DVD drive.
You risk having your console banned from xbox live and its functionality reduced though.

You have to flash the drive, also you will get banned from online play despite what people say.

This is right, you'd be better of buying one of ebay if you don't intend to put it on xbox live, as there are so many about since mircosoft banned them all from getting online

So not worth the hassle for saving £25 a year for a gold licence then?

flashing the drive doesn't give you free live

Could they stop the banning in a future firmware update?

agreed it gives you access to pirated games ie rather than paying £40 for a new release you will get it for £2-£3

it depends whether you use live but for instance if you buy 4 games on a modded xbox then get banned from live the money you save on games will pay for a new xbox - loads of my friends have modded xboxes i don't as i don't mines often enough
