It is quite tricky and involves removing part of the dash and display, personally i'd say get it done from any half competent mechanic/auto electrician and watch how they do it, then next time you'll have an idea how to DIY

In that case:
1) Looking up from below the steering wheel you should be able to see some screws. Unscrew these and the outer casing for your dash should come out.
2) Behind this you should now see your actual Clock/Dial unit which will be held in place by 2 or more screws, unscrew and your whole instrument cluster should be free now.
3) At this point you may be able to pull the cluster out enough to get to the bulbs
OR
You may find the cluster comes out a certain distance but no further because the Speedo cable usually "LOCKS" into the back of the cluster, depending upon the actual connection type the cable should unlock in the same fashion as a standard light bulb i.e. Push n twist. DO NOT PULL the cluster too hard as you may damage the speedo cable etc
4) Also disconnect the other wiring plugs etc IF NECESSARY to get to the bulbs, and change them

COST 50p -£1 per bulb

OR
Buy a haines manual and educate yourself regarding your car, they are quite good and if you go to second hand book shops online or thEbay you might get one pretty cheap <- this is what i would do.

I had the same problem, and it was too difficult and expensive to get sorted. I just hooked up a LED light to the cigar lighter.
