Strange request I know!

Basically got a nice wool top from river island but its too big for me!

Wondering the best way to control shrink something!

Gave it to my mum but hasnt really shrunk that much. Ironically she alsways manages to shrink tops I don't want shrunk!

So is there a good way to do it? Is it the heat or the spinning?

TIA!

I would say it was the heat shrinks them, maybe try a 60 degree wash, tumble dry it too.The only problem is if you if it shrinks just length ways and not across the chest, anything could happen really.
I wouldn't put wool blend clothing or most jumpers in the washing machine as it does usually shrink them,I've got jumpers I had more than a decade now.Anything that needs handwashing,my Mum usually does it for me,she prefers to handwash, cos she didn't have a washing machine till I almost left home, remember her having a twin tub sometimes a spinner too.

Give it back to your mum, but tell her you have gone off it and really hate it. If she always does it to the tops you hate, job sorted

She does it to the tops I like :P

Right its in washing machine now, but gta be out in an hour! It had better work :@

Give it to my wife, she always manages to shrink my tops and then has the cheek to say I've put weight on.

how did it turn out. i've only just spotted this thread, so it could be too late, but the only problem with hotter washing woollens, is that it could matte up too much, and you can't check on it's progress. Better to tumble it as hot as poss first. If that doesn;t work - try the hotter wash
