Bought a used console, and would like to know what to look for to check this out.

Can't find any info on what to check, so would appreciate any help.

There's no physical way, as all you do is alter the firmware on the DVD drive.

Only way is to use a back up of a game you own

Could always take off the front fascia and see if the silver Microsoft security seal is still intact. If it is then it can't be modded as the consoles need to be opened to mod them.

Hope this helps xx

1 hair dryer + 1 Stanley blade = intact seal

I tried a backup or two, and it just goes to some media player mode.

Now I'm not sure if these are too new and it's flashed to an older version, or if it's not been done at all.

It's had the E74 error and repaired so has been opened.

Just thought it might have had a way to tell. Dunno what to try next...

try making a cod5 iso disk, if you can open up a mod menu its been "modded" or in other words flashed/chipped.
