thank you, thought i would just check before trying to speak to them tomorrow, she says she deffo isnt using it via t mobile, but the ill doesnt give times so hard to track down whats going on

On the bill for yesterday there is a free one showing and one showing for 32p, now i wouldnt have though using my own connection at home would even show on the bill?

how would i find that? sorry

On the bill for the 24 it shows two entries, one is free and other is charged for, as she doesnt get free internet i cant understand what the free one is either, as surely going through my own internet wouldnt even show on the tmobile bill

If you are sure you are using your Wifi, then there will be no charge.

You probably made a GPRS connection. If you want to make sure you get no charges, ring them up and tell them to turn data off. Get the persons name and write down the call details......I wouldnt trust mobile CS as far as I could throw them.... and they always cant find the recordings you need!

if she only connects thru wifi she should just delete the gprs settings for the provider that way it cant connect without her realising what kinda phone is it?

if they can give me times i will know if she was at home, if she isnt then she obviously clicking it by accident, or something, its her bill and shes paying so if she was using it there would be no reaosn for her to say she isnt,

Its a nokia 5800, she says she knows the difference between using tmoile and home interent, but she not gonna be happy with a big ill so need to sort it
#11
On the phone settings there will be some internet settings(cant tell you exactly as don't have you phone) just delete the settings. Then if you accidentally try to connect it will give you a error message.

she still wants to e able to connect to the interent at home and free wifi hotspots, will she still be able to do this if she turns off the gprs thing

Yes. All you would be doing is making sure data doesnt flow via their network. Free Wifi is free - as is your home network. (I should know - I've hacked it!) :w00t:

can some give me the right instructions to do it then, dont want to do the wrong ones and she looses everything

to remove the tmobile gprs settings

1. Press the menu button
2. Tap Tools
3. Tap Settings
4. Tap Connectivity
5. Tap Destinations
6. Tap WAP services

then should be able to find the default tmobile gprs settings and delete them (can easily be added again at a later point if req)

Yes.

Call up T-Mobile CS and tell them to bar GPRS.

5) tap destinations

we have

access point
intenet
multi media message
wap services

we deleted the wap one
#21
You will have to turn off 3g too. It will only try to use GPRS if there is no 3G connection.

Sassie. A system reboot or anything else could turn these settings back on. The only way you can be sure is TELLING t-mobile to turn off data from your account. Anything else is a gamble.

Can't think how they can! If they say no to you just tell them you wont be paying any data bill if you dont do as you've instructed!

Hehe... Seriously, they will do it. I've done it myself before (on O2) T-Mobile wont be any different. They cant force you to have a service you dont want that cane easily be stopped by them.

Just turn off 3g. Set it to mobile network only. If you get them to turn off data then you wont be able to send picture messages.

Well dont have a Nokia 5800, but on mine I tap the screen in the top corner where the mobile signal is and choose "mobile only". I'll have a look for you. You could make a thread "How to turn off 3g on a Nokia 5800"

Sure it wasn't on "Dual Mode" which is how it comes set up.

Well if it's on GSM and has no GPRS/internet settings it cant connect to the internet.

Has it got the 3g/3.5g logo on the top left of the screen?

I'll take it when your testing you have the your wi-fi network turned off.
