Ok thanks, don't want a dead phone! Not sure about markets around here, did see a local shop that had a mobile unlocking sign in it - how much should I expect to pay in a shop?

WARNING: ALL CONTACTS AND OTHER SETTINGS MAY BE LOST DURING THIS PROCESS!!!

      Method:
Before you start, make sure the battery is charged and all security codes or PIN codes or watever are disabled so we dont have any code prompts interfering with this method.

      1. Turn off the mobile phone.
      2. Insert a "Non-accepted" SIM card (sim card that wont work) half way in so that when you turn on the phone, it still says "Insert SIM".
      3. Turn on the phone.
      4. Enter the following code and wait patiently for phone to reset:

      *2767*2878#

      5. Once reset has completed, the phone will still say "Insert SIM". This is where you need to push the sim card all the way in. You can use a paperclip or a tiny object to push it in if you have difficulty. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE PHONE REMAINS ON AT THIS STAGE (TRY NOT TO LET BATTERY FALL OUT) IF BATTERY FALLS OUT, DO NOT PANIC, JUST START FROM STEP 2 AGAIN.
      6. Enter the following code and wait patiently for phone to reset:

      *2767*3855#

      7. After reset is completed, SIM should work and also the reception. Don't get excited, its not unlocked yet.
      8. Now we want to make it permanent. First check what locks need to be deactivated with the following code:

      *#7465625#

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------
      a)
If Network Lock is "Active", put in the following code:

      *7465625*638*00000000*00000000#
Message should be "Network Lock has been personalised" or similar.
      Then:

      #7465625*638*00000000#
Message should be "Network Lock deactivated" or similar.

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------
      b)
If Subset Lock is "Active", put in the following code:

      *7465625*782*00000000*00000000#
Message should be "Subset Lock has been personalised" or similar.
      Then:

      #7465625*782*00000000#
Message should be "Subset Lock deactivated" or similar.

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------
      c)
If SP Lock is "Active", put in the following code:

      *7465625*77*00000000*00000000#
Message should be "SP Lock has been personalised" or similar.
      Then:

      #7465625*77*00000000#
Message should be "SP Lock deactivated" or similar.

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------
      d)
If CP Lock is "Active", put in the following code:

      *7465625*27*00000000*00000000#
Message should be "CP Lock has been personalised" or similar.
      Then:

      #7465625*27*00000000#
Message should be "CP Lock deactivated" or similar.

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------
      e)
If SIM Lock is "Active", put in the following code:

      *7465625*746*00000000*00000000#
Message should be "SIM Lock has been personalised" or similar.
      Then:

      #7465625*746*00000000#
Message should be "SIM Lock deactivated" or similar.

£5-£10 max as u can pick up a "unlocking kit" for £15 and diy at home

I've used that method on a few Samsungs now and all is well, The sim must be half out so you could damage the sim and can be a little fiddly but it works.

Another way you could do it is put a piece of paper under the sim card between the contacts and then pull the paper out when you get to that stage of the procedure.

I wouldnt recommend that way as the paper can snag and snap the sim card contact points on the phone side:thumbsup:

Managed to get to the reset stage & then the code to see what is active/inactive - Network & SP Lock are active but the codes for those aren't working as I'm not getting that message, when I do the second part it says password incorrect, any advice?

      Slightly different way

      1- Power on fone ,, type : *#7465625#
you will identify wich code is active , which is inactive

2- Remove battery ,, Put your sim card , not all of it ,, just to prepare it to be full inserted , put your battery back and power on fone ,, you must see " insert sim" not "invalid sim.."

      3- type : *2767*3855#
your fone should restart after 1 min ,,
now ,, and before it restart , push your sim card ,,without removing battery

4- your fone should work and accept the sim card ,, but if you check locks you will find that your fone is still Locked

      5- now type : *7465685*638*00000000*00000000#
your UNLOCK CODE is 00000000 now , hh Enjoy

6- now , back to Locks table with : *#7465625# ,, and for each active code you can disable it ,,,here details :

      * Disables CP lock : #7465625*27*00000000#
      * Disables Network lock : #7465625*638*00000000#
      * Disables SIM lock : #7465625*746*00000000#
      * Disables SP lock : #7465625*77*00000000#
      * Disables Subset lock : #7465625*782*00000000#

My mistake! Didn't follow the 2nd reset code!!

Have done the Network code ok but the SPLock still isn't working - unless I've done that wrong
      again
    • shauneco - Nov 02, 2008 16:08

Someone else had "wrong password" They had to use a slightly different method

Samsung J700 Unlock - for sure...
I don't know about anybody else... but even though all the codes posted before were helpful, I just couldn't get rid of the SP Unlock. After doing everything else, I still got 'wrong password' when I tried the unlock code.

Well... great news, I've cracked it. Follow the following, and it will work:

Basically the SP lock needs to be removed before the Network lock is disabled, so if you only have SP lock on, you need to turn the Network lock back to active, disable the SP lock and then disable Network lock. A reminder 'how to' is below:

      Do a custom reset:
*2767*2878# once this has finished rebooting turn the phone off.

Next a SIM card from a different service provider needs to be pushed half in - (Push it fully in then slide it back out by about 1/2 a centimeter),
Turn on the phone - you will now see an "Insert SIM" message,

      Now perform a full reset:
      *2767*3855#

When the phone powers off, quickly push the SIM card fully in, and let
      the phone power back up.

After you do the reset, check and make sure that your Network lock is active by pressing *#7465625#

If it isn't active you must use this code to reactivate it:
      *7465625*638*00000000*00000000#

Then you have to deactivate the SP lock first. To do that you need to input:
*7465625*77*00000000*00000000# (this will reset the lock)

      Then you enter:
#7465625*77*00000000# (to disable the SP lock).

Then you disable the Network lock:
      #7465625*638*00000000#

      The phone is finally unlocked.

Sorry its so long winded... but follow these instructions, and I promise it will work !

      Good luck. http://www.gsm-forum.eu/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Possibly but if it's reset your imei then you'll have bricked the phone, If you've managed to change your imei back then it would probably reset imei back to 00000000 again.

Yes it should do, You do have to be very careful though as on some models the reset codes have been known to set the imei to 00000000.

I've never had that problem though and I know someone who used to unlock loads of phones on the market and not once did it set an imei to 00000000.
