How would I go about playing xbox 360 through my pc monitor?

Hello again, okay my pc monitor (24", 1920x1080) has a hdmi socket, I want to use the hdmi port to play at better quality (I don't know much about this stuff). Would I need to get a hdmi to hdmi cable? Does the xbox 360 have a hdmi port? I don't know the answer yet as I'll be getting the slim in around a few days. Preferably if one of you guys could show a picture of what the lead should look like.

Thanks

if no built in speaker simply plug some in and you will be set to go. hdmi to hdmi cable is fine.

if you dont have speakers you can take the original cable and pull apart the grey part that goes into the xbox, the will then fit in the back of the xbox at the same time as the hdmi cable. you can then plug your speakers in

The very first ones didn't have HDMI, the new one does though, so all you need is a HDMI to HDMI cable, if your monitor has speakers then this will do it all. If not only the picture. Let us know what speakers you have.

Aah i see, unfortunately I have standalone speakers, will that be a problem?

Ignore the first post, you don't need any of that. All you need is a HDMI cable, and then if you show us the connections your speakers have we can give you links to the adaptors you need.

Because he thought you meant your monitor was VGA or DVI to start with. So those 2 links to a cbale and adapter would have been your only choice.
Those adapters are wrong for DVI anyway, and wrong for a VGA xbox.

It kinda looks like the the two in the middle, thats what I use to connect them to the pc.

The ebay item I put above shoud work then as far as I know. You can get splitters to have your PC and Xbox plugged in at the same time aswell.

Then there is another wire, that plugs into my subwoofer which connects to the sound/volume adjuster (which also has mini speakers), looks like this but quite a bit wider

I deleted my post the second I posted it as I did'nt want it to come across as me saying someone had made a mistake in not reading the op properly but you get a gender change with official xbox vga cable so the dvi to vga @ amazon would work but only with gender change

Ok, microsoft blocked the two cabless again, so you have to crack off the casing or buy the thinner dongle from ebay/dealextreme, and the wire from ebay, and some rca cables.

Ah geez, thanks everyone. That really sounds like a painful job.

Okay thanks, dcx, will start some cable shopping. Damn Microsoft.
