I got one of these a couple of days ago, but I can't load the software onto my laptop as its a vista machine. Anyone know I can get the software to run on Vista? Or even any good software available for it?

Also when I attempt to run Tom Tom it just keeps looking for a GPS signal but can't find one, any ideas?

you need to install the software from the cd that came with the phone. You sure the software doesn't work with Vista?
Yep I put the CD in and all the .exe files fail. I seen there were roms on the HTC website but when I entered my serial number it said they were unsuitable

I really doubt the software CD is incompatible with Vista. There must be some settings wrong with your computer.

Anyways, just try downloading Microsoft ActiveSync if you can. That is the software in the CD anyways and after installation, you can then sync the phone with your computer and you'll be able to download the gps updates
Cheers will try that rep added
Ah well I'm goosed now.....managed to stand on the CD when I went to get it at lunch.

Do you think if I sent the broken one into them that they'd send a replacement or is there anywhre I could download it?
Cheers will try that after work, never seen it when I checked the microsoft website
can't you use windows media player to sync music and stuff accross ??

never had a htc so this is a stab in the dark
I'm not looking to just move music across I want to be able to access and make the most of all the functions.

I think I can just even copy music straight across without syncing if I need to
ah ok ....look on google for the htc software ...... will be downloadable somewhere
With regards to the tomtom issue, first thing is to get your QuickGPS software to update (usually its valid for 3 days at a time), but you'll need GPRS enabled sim or connect to a PC (via windows mobile device center 6.1, which is the Activesync equivalent for Vista.) to do it.

Once you done that you can try one of two different configurations for your GPS settings in tomtom. One is to see if the default setting "use built in GPS receiver" config works initially and if not its also worth changing your GPS device settings to "Other NMEA GPS receiver" and by selecting the latter you will then have to choose GPS baud rate (9600 works ok for me) and then choose COM4 after that.

Hope this info helps
