Yes - HD2 has nice big screen, and HTC have done an amazing job hiding WinMo under Sense.

Depends how much time you want to spend working at getting the most out of the phone.

I've been hearing rumours about an OS update for the HD2... The iPhone OS gets very boring after a while!

and dont worry i have plenty of time to work it out lol!

So you've used both and you prefer the HD2 right ?

got a HD2 sitting in my hand right now, best mate has had every iphone, even before they came out in the uk. If its easy access to apps you want, iphone it is. However all round the hd2 is a far better phone. Hardware its better, the OS can multi task and run flash. The only downside is that every big website, and program, seems to have an app for the iphone which is a big big advantage. I'd still pick hd2.

I went for the HD2 for the same reasons, bored of the iPhone, but ended up going back to the iPhone mainly due to lack of time to search for apps, tweak the phone etc. The HD2 is a nice phone though, good big screen & good camera

I don't think the HD2 will get the Windows 7 upgrade. It's not been confirmed.

I did prefer the HD2 for a while because it was better for twitter and web browsing, but once I started using it day-to-day, the bulkiness and slowness of the OS became a bit annoying.

I've gone back to using my HTC Hero now.

the porter
ive had both and the 3gs is far the better handset win mo is shocking even draped in sence if you fancy a change go for an andriod mobile n1 or desire plus the hd2 will not receive the win 7 upgrade so in effect its dead from nov

i don't get how people are saying winmo is shocking, especially with sense. I've been using my phone now for about 3 weeks, not one crash. Does every single thing its meant to. Whats so shocking about it? I think the big shock is that steve jobs didn't market it. Yes the iphone is amazing. Yes it has hundreds of thousands of apps for anything you could ever want. HD2 has better screen, can multi task, has better camera, has a flash. Better gps in my opinion. With a few tweeks its got much much better battery life. It can be a close call for some people but the iphone is for sure not streets ahead of the HD2 like some people are making out.

I agree with all that, but I've had it for more than 3 weeks:thumbsup:

I'm over the 'wow' factor of the amazing screen and the great browser. It's now just that little bit too big, little bit too laggy, little bit too geeky (searching XDA or yomo for apps).

I wouldn't be looking for any other phone to be honest it's just the look of this phone has made me want to own one! lol

but that doesn't really make sense. If you agree with all i said, that was what, 6 points i made that make it better than the iphone. Being too big and too geeky, well its not THAT bigger than the iphone, its thinner than the iphone too. As for geeky, i'd rather be geeky than have the same phone than just about everyone around going look i've got an iphone.

the absolutely biggest factor for me when i was choosing my current phone was exactly as you've stated - i just didn't want what everyone else blathers on about.

iphone this, iphone that - it's just so effing tedious.

do any of these people realise there's an app that makes you sound like a right tool?

my hd2 is just what i need in a phone, and i haven't even got stuck into xda developers yet.

plus i've dropped it, onto concrete (i know, i know) yet it was strong enough to escape with just a mark on it's top corner, bet your fancy iphone wouldn't have managed to escape as unscathed as that.

plus - 12 month contract

very true i got 12month contract too. Wouldn't like to be paying for an iphone on a 12month contract. Don't get me wrong i'm not silly enough just to not get an iphone cuz everyone else have one. I don't care if every single person on this earth had one, if it were way better than the hd2 i'd have got an iphone.

Thinking the desire might be good mate. Worth looking at, when it comes out this time next month.

My goods & bad of the HD2:

The Good:
1. Great sharp display
2. Fast Internet with pinch zoom functionality
3. Good 5mp camera with flash
4. Twitter tab
5. Good solid build
6. Weather + animated wallpaper
7. Multi email accounts
8. HTC Sense - (i.e. put phone face down speaker phone comes on, louder ring when in pocket, touch screen switches off when put to ear etc etc)

The Bad:
1. I can't get Flash on it ... if u know how, please send me instructions/link
2. No voice dial
3. Slightly heavy phone
4. Not a great choice of free apps
5. Speaker has only average sound quality
6. On board memory soon fills up
7. Battery needs charging daily

as for the flash mate, you need to install the free browser called skyfire. works a treat. thats the only browser it works in. i can't get the weather to work on mine for some reason. as for the battery, you can install a new radio rom to give you lots more battery time
