HTC HD2 or iPhone

My contract with O2 is coming to an end. Currently I have the XDA Serra and cant decide which one to go for as an upgrade. Dont want to leave O2 as get a very good deal with them.
600 mins 500 text, unlimited landlines and unlimited internet for £20 inc Vat

What do I use the phone for
Connect my laptop to mobile and use unlimited internet (saving money on buying mobile internet seperately)
Use a lot of notes, outlook and pdf viewing
Use RSS for news everyday
Reason for opting for XDA Serra before is due to touch screen and sliding keyboard making it very easy for outlook and email.
Sync with laptop and desktop.

Want to choose HD2
- Easy sync with laptop
- Already using Windows mobile platform so easy to migrate
- Larger screen and faster than iphone3gs
- Can connect to laptop for mobile internet via bluetooth or usb cable
- Unlocked to can give it to younger brother after contract finishes. Dont know how to get iphone unlocked legally.
- More space and can expand
- Cheaper as wont have to pay anything for handset (have to pay £50 for 16gb or £100 for 32gb)
- Can use opnmarket for opensource software

Want to choose iphone
- All the excellent iphone applications everywhere
- its an iPhone

Also if you already using the phone currently can you tell me the problems with your phone iphone or HD2

Many thanks

Based on that I'd say the HD2.

Notes, outlook and PDFs would be better on the massive screen and there is an excellent RSS called Yomomedia which is free.

I use both and you'll need to have a play with a HD2 because it is bigger than an iPhone and that shocks some people.

Personally though, at this moment I'd probably wait for the HTC Desire. I'm 90% certain that will be my next phone when it arrives in March/April time.

I'm in a similar situation. On PAYG with TyTN II currently and weighing up options of what next.
Like the sound of HD2 as find WM so flexible and customisable.
Iphone of no interest to me; just don't like the locked down nature or apps and hardware - I mean, who else can get away with producing a phone with unchangable battery and no memory card slot!
Android looks very good and was going to ask OP why he hadn't mentioned the possiblity of an Android device. Desire looks interesting and very powerful - just subtle differences with Nexus One (addition of FM radio Sense UI, but lack of docking port US 3G radios, and likelyhood of Over the air upgrades to latest OS). Milestone also sounds tempting on Android with it slide out keyboard like the TyTN II.

My thinking at the moment is between the following:
HTC HD2 - If this is upgradable to WP7S when its released, this could be a deal maker.
Desire - Loving Android! some really cool apps and great Google integration (GMail, Google Talk etc)
Milestone - Not as powerful as Desire, but reviews say very fast and uses 600Mhz CPU very well. Slide out QWERTY a big bonus!
N900 - Sounds like a great OS in the making, but lack of apps support, only works in landscape etc so unlikely
Samsung Beam - Nearly forgot this one. Sounds a good android device with a built in projector too.

Network is important as I want good data allowance that allows/turns a blind eye to streaming, tethering, chat programs. So far Three UK hit the spot on PAYG for all that. T-Mobile seem quite good too, but not sure how strict they are at enforcing policies on thether etc. Don't do much of this stuff that often, but want to feel able to do it when I need to.
Can I ask OP, is tethering allowed on O2? It sounds like you have been doing it with now comeback? What is the fair usage limits like? Is Coverage good?

I am on O2 and use tethering via bluetooth or cable on my laptop. Use it for skype (video), msn, facebook and streaming movies. I was told the O2 has a fair usage policy of 3gb but so far have never heard from them. Download speed is excellent as like i said stream movies and video from youtube, bbc site and iplayer.

Since the suggestions, I am also now thinking of the Desire. Did a comparison and Desire has better features than the HD2.

What upgrade deal are O2 offering? Keep the same tarriff and free or subsidised handset? Would be a cracking deal if they gave you a HD2 for free. Are O2 planning to do the Desire?

I dont know if o2 will be doing the desire. If they do then may as well wait for a couple of months or haggle with them for the desire
