I like the iPhone as much as the next Apple fanboy. But I was a little disappointed with the move from 3G to 3GS.

This Android phone looks pretty darn good with the 5mp camera and the Flash support.

The looks won't be to everyone's taste, but I love the fact that you can have 7 different screens showing you info rather than having to go into a seperate app like you do on the iPhone.

Yeh was just on the HTC site looking at this. Looks pretty neat.

Every new phone these days seems to be touted as an alternative to the iphone.

But much say I do like the HTC phones more than iphone

Obviously there aren't as many Android apps as there are iPhone apps, but if you want games I suppose there's plenty of free Flash games out there.

As an Apple fanboy, I think if these specs had been announced on the new iPhone then I'd have bought it day one.

"First alternative"? Pfft. Keep up, old bean. What you're looking at there is just an updated version of the TouchFlo3D interface, which HTC have been using for its phones since around November of last year. It's a swish interface, but really, the swishness of the interface is the only thing that the TouchFlo 3D range of phones have in common with the iPhone. Beyond that, HTC phones are built upon Windows Mobile 6.1, which is a much, much more powerful mobile OS than the iPhone OS. You can't even multitask with the iPhone. Don't get a physical keyboard, either. HTC's phones have bigger screens that run at higher resolutions, too.

I don't know how people get by without being able to multitask on their iPhones. I wonder if they only run one task at a time on their computers, too.

Noce one...

I had a HTC touch hd and only got rid of it because I found it too slow... But now I am a blackberry user... want to stay away from the Apple vs HTC arguments...

I like it but what is the browser like for the internet. I have an Iphone and I couldn't care about having the lastest product. I just want it to do what I ask.

I don't know if it will be as smooth as the iPhone's browser. It looks pretty good with the multi-touch and flash implementation though.

Which BB did you go for?

It has to be an improvement on the terrible HTC Touch HD.

I have got the Bb curve 8900... I am quite happy with it... missing 3g but I often use wifi so i am not that much bothered.

Prefer it a lot more than the HTC hd and iphone 2g that I have had in the past but that my personal taste...

Nope not quite.

What you are looking at is the ANDROID interface, not touch flo 3s and win mob 6.1.
This is Android mobile without Google branding.

Looks good, but as has already been said in this thread there are already several very good alternatives, G1, HTC Magic, Blackberry Bold and Storm, and the recently released in the US Palm Pre would be the main ones (not counting the windows mobile devices as they need a stylus)

It's the android interface, but they have put their new interface (HTC Sense) on top of it...

Talking of htc sense, there's talk that they might be releasing it for their other HTC phones (so the G1 and the Magic)

Missed the part about this being an Android phone did we? :whistling: Does look good though doesn't it.

Although Windows mobile, better than the iPhone OS? Maybe on planet I like everything I do to be infinitely more painful that it needs to be :giggle:, but isn't multitasking great.

Windows Mobile is better that Iphone OS apart from one factor and its what cripples win mobile in comparison and that is finger friendlyness. Its a shame because it makes win mob horrible to use.

Because the buggyness, the inconsistency of interface, the god awful performance (at least on my X1), etc. etc. are great features? The whole stylus/finger thing is the final nail in the coffin of a phone OS that Microsoft themselves admit sucks. Ok so it has multi-tasking, great! Seriously how many times when you've been reading your text messages have you thought: you know it'd be real handy if I could run solitaire at the same time?

You can preorder one at Clove Tech for £401.

It's butt ugly. No thanks.

I think the 'chin' is going to put a lot of people off. I kinda like the look of it, and the screen.

I think that's more to do with the OS it runs. I used the G1 before and felt it was pretty good.

I'd placed an order for iphone 3GS yesterday but had cancelled it as I discovered HTC Hero is available for preorder. Very tempted, but should I wait for user review?

I am. If it's going to be available at the start of July then reviews shouldn't be too far off. T-Mob and Orange haven't got it on their sites yet so I'm waiting for the tariffs too.

I'm also waiting for this to come out, or the Samsung i7500. I want to wait till both are out and compare, no idea when the sammy will hit the uk though. Either way I plan on getting an android soon.

BTW Expansys have this phone for free on t-mobile combi 30 + webnwalk 18 month contract or £80 on 12 month contract.

Released today, just ordered.

Got this delivered on Friday, much cheaper than the iPhone and I'm incredibly impressed by it so far. Yes there aren't has many apps available but there are some pretty great ones there. Certainly all the main ones at least. I'd highly recommend the phone to anyone.
