Hello all I have just upgraded my current contract with orange and i have been offered 900 x net minutes, unlimited texts, free insurance, and 80mb data usage for £25 a month....First of all i am just wondering if i have got a good deal?

Also after doing some research i have came to the conclusion that 80mb may not be enough for me, i am mostly going to be browsing this website, facebook, and bbc news,
is there anyway to set up a data cap to stop me from going over the monthly limit?
What is your experience when it comes to browsing the web sensibly and keeping your data usage as minimal as possible?!

I may have to ring them again and say that 80mb is not enough and i am thinking of going to O2 as they offer unlimited data (500mb if i recall)

How long is the contract as the phone being offered free also?

Depending on the length of the contract, this isn't a bad deal although the data offered is paltry. I would ask for a standard 500mb data usage which Orange normally offer and it appears that you'll have quite a good deal.

Thats a fantastic deal, but like you thought, 80MB is poor. Get more data, and you will have a complete deal!

The contract is a 18 month deal and free handset..... I was haggling with them for about 10 minutes on the phone today, they originally offered me 1200 mins but i said this was to much, so i got 900 and a cheaper price over all.

They wouldnt budge over the 80mb data usage i said il go with O2 then as they give you a much better amount of internet. Also i can get friends and family discount with O2 which equated to 30% off your monthly bill,

now i am thinking i am better off with o2 as i can get a Iphone 3GS for around £31 a month, however this doesnt give me the insurance,

Im in a right pickle !?!?!

You have managed to get a good deal out of Orange but I guess it depends on which phone you want to get. I would say hang on a little while and see what deal Orange would do for and Iphone 3GS but I think they won't be quite so generous.

As you already have 80mb of data, perhaps you could haggle going up to 500mb for less than the £5 they charge! I've got an HTC Hero and am very happy with it.

Dang looks like im stuck with orange then, Does anyone know if you can negotiate contract terms such as extra data allowance after you have received your new phone?

I know you have a week to try out the phone and see how it feels etc, Im thinking of getting the phone then ringing and saying ive just been using the internet and 80mb is definately not enough......The dude on the phone said " I use my internet all day long and i never go over my 80mb allowance" hmm i smell sum billy bull****

Could i send the phone back and renogitate and possibly leave all together then?

You'll come across a brick wall if you try to re-negotiate once the phone has been sent. You could always try to call customer services but better still, the person you got the deal from and they may be able to get a deal for you.

To be honest, 80mb for browsing web pages isn't great but not bad. With an HTC Hero you'll want to download files though. You can do this through wifi but not always and given you have an 18 month contract 500mb is ideally a starting point!
