Htc Hero or HTC Desire

I'm looking at getting one of the two phones on the Tmobile contract. Most probably the £10 a month contract with 100mins 100texts unlimited internet and 1 booster.

Which phone do peoples think is better for the price.

The Hero is £126 on this offer and the desire is £164.

However when ringing up I should be able to get money off them both.

What do you think I should do?

Desire. Easy, no comparasion.

I got the same contract, but slightly reduced.

£124 upfront payment
10/pm @ 24 months - 100 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet.

You'd be insane to go for a HTC Hero over a HTC Desire in my opinion

Why do you think so though? What are the advantages of the desire over the hero?
#4
I've got a G2 Touch/Hero and think it's a fantastic phone. But, as far as I'm aware the Desire is the upgraded version of the Hero, and has a faster processor/general all round better spec. Not used one right enough so can't comment on that...

why do you prefer the hero tho?

Bigger Screen: 3.7inch
Better Screen: AMOLED
Better Camera: 5mp with flash
Better CPU: 1GHZ Snapdragon
Better Software: Android 2.1 - have to wait until HTC Hero gets that update
More RAM: 567mb
Better Design: Optical trackpad etc

Etc etc etc

Dude.. You've got the HTC website - at least check out the phones specs before asking here :). It'll clear 99% of questions up - plus techradar has a good review of HTC Desire.

Ok very simple way to explain..

HTC Hero is almost a year old phone

HTC Desire has just come out, it's HTC's new whizz bang Android phone, with the best hardware and features... Plus Techradar have put it at #1 of the top 15 current phones in the world, right above the iPhone 3GS...

If you buy the HTC Hero - you're nuts.. Especially when ya saving very little.

Go over to Techradars website and read the review - or read the comments in the HTC Desire owners thread on here.

Each place has all the info youre looking for :).

Still nuts...get the desire...

but why is it nuts? the desire is much bigger and no good for fitting in a clutch bag!

can someone please complare the Desire and Legend and tell me which is better to get and why!!
#15
if you prefer the hero, get the desire on contract, sell it for around ~£400 and buy the hero for around ~£250 and pocket the rest :p

the desire is better because its newer and is worth more...enough said

I didn't say I prefer the hero, I said I think the hero is a fantastic phone. But from what I've heard (including from links posted in this thread) the Desire is an all round improvement. Unfortunately, I've not had the pleasure of using it so can't comment definitively on the differences.

Put it this way, the Hero is great, the Desire's better. Go for the Desire...

The upgraded version of the Hero is the Legend. The Desire is now top of the HTC Android for now.

The Legend has the following above the Hero.

Newer Firmware

Faster Processor

More RAM

Better Screen

Camera Flash

Less buttons

Optical Track pad

The HTC Desire features a faster processor, more ram, double flash and larger screen in addition to the Legend's specs. The Legend features a metal case versus the Desire's plastic case. Having dropped my Hero on a number of occasions, I can say that the metal case is very sturdy. If you want an all singing and dancing mobile then the HTC Desire is the one to go for. The Legend looks nicer and doesn't make your pocket bulge as much and does everything the Desire does, just a bit slower and on a smaller screen.

I think thehitman summed it up nicely. I think if your criteria are size then go with the one that fits your pocket (or bag). I would say that if you have or are used to an iPhone then the desire is going to be a better bet. Don't get me wrong, I have a hero and its fantastic, but it has a few flaws. And would bet the desire addresses them all.

Go for the Desire.

I got one for my GF last week and she loves it.

The bottom line is "WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM THE PHONE?"

The bottom line is "WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM THE PHONE?"
I am a very visual person, so to me, the way the device feels and looks takes precidence over speed and power.
I bought a HTC Desire, but sold it, simply because I want a smart looking sexy phone. not saying the HTC desire isnt, but the HTC Legend is crafted with style in mind, whereas the HTC Desire has be crafted with speed and power in mind. (from the HTC Rep)

I now have a HTC Legend on order from Vodafone, delivery 6th April.
The HTC desire has a bigger screen (3.7") where the Legend has 3.2". Also, the HCT Desire has 1Ghz, whereas the Legend has 600Mhz processor. The desire has flash enabled web browsing, so how ever you see webpages on you computer, thats how you will see it on the Desire.
BUT.. the Htc Legend is a much more beautiful device (unibody construction made from aluminium).

So, considering the Htc Desire is gorgous, the Htc Legend does well to beat it in the stlye category.

If you want the fastest most functional phone on the market, go for the HTC desire.

If you want the best looking phone on the market, invest in a HTC Legend or an Iphone.
(Although this is all about HTC phones, Apple deserves credit for it devices. Credit it due where credit is due).

NB: Tmobile are currently doing what I consider the best deal for a HTC Desire ( thats why I bought one), so you may find that although the HTC desire is the more expensive device between the two, it is available for the cheaper price. (What an upside down world we live in... :?)

So the choice is YOURS.

From the sounds of it, it seems like you want to buy the HTC Hero.
Be my guest. its YOUR money.

But, the kind ppl here on HUKD are offering sound advice and advising you to pay around £50 more to buy the HTC Desire, as it is the better device.

But if moneys tight and you dont want to buy the HTC Desire you know what... SAVE YOUR money and don't buy a contract at all.
Thats my advice.

Again, at the end of the day its YOUR choice :)
