HTC and Tesco contract no internet or wifi working help

I have just got a Tesco mobile contract and have put the sim in my HTC desire and the internet or wifi does not work. I rang Tesco up and they gave me the settings but still no joy.

The settings which i have been given are:

Name: Tesco gprs wap
APN: prepay.tesco-mobile.com
Proxy: 193.113.200.195
Port: 8080
Username: Tesco wap
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
Authentication type: PAP
APN default: default

can someone help me please and who is on tesco contract and got it all working thanx.

Yes try the settings.

If wifi isnt working then either its a user fault not inputting your wifi details or a hardware fault, as for mobile internet, if you getting signal then it should work if you have all the settings correct

Yes tried these setting saved them and restarted the phone but still not worked.

If wifi isnt working then either its a user fault not inputting your wifi details or a hardware fault, as for mobile internet, if you getting signal then it should work if you have all the settings correct


It was all working when it was on o2 but not on Tesco nothing is working. I have turned wifi on and the wifi symbol doesnt even come on to confirm the wifi is on. I haven't changed any of the setting accept the about APN which was advised by tesco.

Have you turned the phone on and off again. I know this sounds stupid. But the amount of people who don't do this at my work place to allow Internet to connect to the sim is stupid.

As for wifi it's propably the user. But if not take the phone back

Wifi sorted now was issue with router i have turned it on and off now seems to be ok but internet still not working are the settings right?

I turned the phone on and off one i had put the details and saved the APN im thinking that the details are not right is there anyone who can confirm they are right?

Does your router show up under Settings>Wireless & networks>Wi-Fi>Wi-Fi networks?

Yes it does now the wifi is working properly its just the internet from the sim.

Unfortunately they cant do this with the HTC desire im not sure why but you have to manually put the details in.

Im sure there must be other people with HTC desire on a Tesco contract.

Thanx for this used it to sort it out some of the settings were incorrect which i got from a Tesco advisor over the phone so everything is working as it should now.
