HI

I'm after advice and direction to buying a HTPC

I already have a ATI RADEON 4650 HD 512mb grpahics card and 3 gb of ddr2 5300 (1x2gb and 2x512) of Ram to use if the system is Bare bones.

It has to have excellent speed and i want to be able to distribute the media to not only a 42" Panasonic Plasma but also a wireless linksys media centre in the bedroom.

Fairly straight foward.

Not bothered if the processor is AMD or Intel but it has to have rear vents and and not top and it has to lay flat like a dvd player not a normal dekstop pc.

Can be Mini or sff and must looke the Biz!!

Would rather have some form a guarantee on the system.

I do not buy from CURRYS & PCWORLD and i try to stay clear of COMET.

Any help appreciated

Lav

then im not really entirely sure of what you want it to do!.

An alternative would be to go for:

Zotac 9300 Mini ITX board
Core 2 Duo Processor
Pico PSU
Mini ITX case

and use the ram and GFX card you have already.
that will prob set you back round about 200.

I could never upgarde the Revo. It would be a box i couldnt do alot with in the future.
With a htpc i could upgrade ALL components as and when.

The Revo doesnt have a blue ray player does it?

With a htpc i could install one.

With a Revo it would just a media player pc,.

With a htpc if changes are made i could use it else where.

There are my reasons.

Maybe a Revo would be upto the job but it just isnt suitable at the moment. If i read diffeently it might be a contender.

The components are a good choice but it doesnt come with a guarantee........ something i really want as me and electrics sometimes make a dangerous combination!!

Components come with exactly the same guarantee as a barebones. Plus it could be a pretty powerful system. Building one isnt as hard as you would think!
