Useless site anyway. Messaged them for clarification on having no licence 2 weeks ago.
Wanted the info in writing to use as proof to call them up and cancel but ....

You only need a tv license if you are watching or recording live television as it is being broadcast.

You do not need a TV license for DVD's, Games or watching on demand videos such as iPlayer.

That's what they do. They can't believe that some people don't have a TV, so anyone who doesn't have a license must be evading and get harassed.

I knew that already but wanted to know about my situation. As I have the means to watch TV (Virgin TV box but not powered) and my PC is capable of recording and watching live TV, but I don't use the features. Its a grey area and I wanted official comment on it.

There is no grey area, you can have any amount of devices you want capable of receiving tv, but only when you use that capability do you need the license. Every single computer, with or without a TV Tuner Card, is capable of watching live TV, via the internet.

Not from what I've gone through, get mixed answers. A few times I've been told that having the capability to receive is enough to need a licence, be it PC on the internet or antenna/digital box.
Anyway before this goes into a argument on what people think and what I've been told I will just leave it there.

For the original question - I have had no issues when using the site, but glad you can get on now.

Its pretty clear on the site TBH

You need to be covered by a valid TV Licence if you watch or record TV as it's being broadcast. This includes the use of devices such as a computer, laptop, mobile phone or DVD/video recorder.

If you don't watch it live then you don't need one

Yep , if you could tell the people on the phone that would be great.

Edit - Removed comment as I don't want this to turn into a argument. I have been told differing information from the licence people so I am inclined to take their word over a board members. I am going to send of a form and I have put that I am happy for a visit to prove.
