It's my other half's 30th birthday in October and I want to do something really special for him but have no idea what, so I thought I'd sound out the good people at HUKD for some ideas! I was thinking of a surprise hot air balloon ride but not sure if that would be worth it....He's had a Ferrari driving day and we've done spa days etc. We are thinking of going to New York around that time so maybe I could do something out there for him - I was thinking maybe a helicopter ride in NY or a day trip to Niagara Falls? All ideas welcome! Mucho thanks

Does he like Madonna ?
If so and you can match the dates up with your NY trip she is playing Madison Square Garden on the
6/7/11th October.

As an alternative Nick Cave and the bad Seeds are playing the Wamu Theatre (part of Madison Square I think) on the 4th October

American Football ?
NY Jets vs Cincinatti Bengals 12/10/08 1pm Giants Stadium
NY Jets vs Kansas Chiefs 26/10/08 1pm Giants Stadium

Helicopter Rides:
http://www.zipover.com/

The Rockefeller Centre has an observation deck where you can get a 360 degree view over Manhattan. Great for some spectacular photos.

You can get day trips to Niagra Falls. 14 hour duration and a hefty $450 (probably more with fuel charges going up) You also need to make sure you have Visas if you are going to the Canadian side I think.

Ther'es a few to mull over :)

Wow, thanks hottoshop! Some great suggestions. He’s not really a Madge fan but I like the idea of finding our what’s on at Mad Sq Gdns and Wamu theatre – will look into that!

I was thinking of us going to American Football/basketball game too but not sure whether it would be cheaper to book tix when I get there (but then they could get sold out, lol)

We’ve done the ‘top of the Rock’ (Rockefeller) which was amazing. Thanks for the helicopter link too.

Has anyone done a Niagara Falls day trip from NY? I knew it would be pricey but maybe I could book it from NY...

Thanks again for the tips– much appreciated! :-D

Take him to watch the Moto GP final round at Valencia on October 26th. Big Rock are offering weekend packages from £600 pp including flights, hotels, transfers and grandstand tickets.
Moto GP is the most exciting motorsport available and 4 riders are batling for the honours, Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner are the favourites, but thiscircuit can through up some fantastic close quarter racing. Valencia is a flat circuit and the grandstands offer views across the whole circuit, take the option of the grandstand and mingle with the rich and famous. The Spanish love their bike racing and turn out in their thousands, last years race day attendance was in excess of 100,000.

If he doesn't want that, then take me instead!

Such a fab idea as he’s got a motorbike and is into all that. And I’ve wanted to go to Valencia for ages! Definitely a contender - cheers x

Not sure if my OH would enjoy a bungee jump (we're both scaredy cats, lol) but balloon ride could be possible....it looked good when they went on one on The Apprentice recently! thanks

My birthday is on 5th October, I will be 34, oh no.

I don't look a day over 18 though!

I would love the Madonna thing, I might keep hinting about it, to my man.

Valentine's 2009, your organised.

It is my fella's birthday on 9th June, he will be 27, my toy boy.

I think we might be going to Silverstone on 7th & 8th June, my mum sent me some ticket's yesterday.

Have a great time whatever you do x x

The best bit is she will know nothing until she gets up for work to find a note by the kettle...

I book the days off from her work and they are in on the secret...

I took her to Casablance this year for 3 nights...

She loves her surprise weekends away also...

Ah, how romantic! Where are you whisking her away to (or on second thoughts don’t answer that if she comes on this site!) :whistling:
