Best blu ray DVD's......

1) Batman dark night, amazing picture quality as parts done in IMAX.
2) Kung fu panda, Blu ray is made for cgi aninmation.
3) WallE for sma ereason.
4) Indiana Jones 4 classic reborn, not as good as originals though.

I got the Batman begins /Dark Knight set and its pretty awesome.
#3
Dark knight is stunning, particularly the Imax scenes. Transformers looks awesome as well.
#4
Dark Knight
Starwars Clone wars
Planet Earth

Also on the worst, Terminator 2. Has some bad digital artifacts and graining on the transfer. Better than DVD but not the wow factor you expect on blu-ray.

True, watch out for older films, best to get on DVD unless fav film.... i.e back to the future! :)

All new releases should be of a good quality though.

Wonder if bloody valentine 3D will be in 3D on blu ray?????? rubbish film but good for the death scenes and other 3D thing ;) .lol :w00t:

I agree with Wall-E and Planet Earth. I liked Blade Runner too.

Maybe a dumb questions, but how does the Imax thing work on the Dark Knight? Is that a special feature?

No it plays in the film auto, you can tell as the image is no longer wide screen but full screen and immed. see a huge gab in picture quality.... its amazing especially if big TV :)

But is a bonus feature that shows you a feature on this, the large camera. Think all films should do it, I know they have probs due to cost and size of the camera for action seq.

Yes I have a rule I have set myself I will only replace my dvd's if I can get the blu-ray for under £10.

But some I'll pay whatever. Starwars, BTTF and a few others.

Some I know will never make it to blu-ray, like white men can't jump. The dvd transfer isnt great and I dont watch it on my projector as the quality just isn't there even when upscaled.

Cars too, got to mention cars.

i agree also but one problem with the older films is they used older effects, i have the starwars trilogy both prefer the originals and the last 20mins of the the sith, if the original was on blu ray it might not transfer the way you would hope for on blu ray,, bttf would look good on blu ray

yet still no mention of iron man on blu ray
does no one like the movie lol i have it on blu ray and it looks AMAZING

Well currently watch hi-def MVK's of starwars taken from US tv. They are much better on a 82" screen so would expect the blu-ray to be a fair bit better than dvd. Come on George pull your finger out!

Well, I've been doing a lot of buying, but not too much watching so far! I set myself a limit of £13 for a movie and I'm trying to be selective in what I buy. I'm not going to bother replacing my entire DVD collection, but I'm sold on blu-ray after being a total sceptic initially.

Anyway, of the films I watched so far, I'd say Speed Racer has some of the most impressive visuals I have seen. It's an eye-popping colour overload. Real demo material. Sound is a little disappointing and the movie itself is, um, an acquired taste, but it's worth getting if the price comes down.

Transformers looks and sounds awesome as others have said. I watched Shoot Em Up last night and that looks and sounds great too. Really crisp image with loads of foreground and background detail. An excellent action film to boot. Well worth a tenner!

The new Rambo is supposed to have a reference quality audio track, but I haven't watched my copy yet.

I've been collecting blu rays for a while, the best in my opinion that have all gotten good reviews are:

Walle
Rambo
Ratatouille
Iron Man
Shawshank Redemption
Spiderman 3
No country for old men
Apocalypto
Transformers
Casino Royale
Planet Earth
Dark knight
Band of Brothers

All of which I thought were stunning visually and have brilliant audio.

Hope that helps. :)

The most impressive transfer for me is Zulu; for a film from 1964, it looks like it could have been shot yesterday.
#24
Does anyone know if and when Gladiator is coming out on blu ray? One of my favourite films of all time, would look amazing on blu ray!
#25
watched rocknrolla yesterday..... looks good and although not as good as snatch or lock stock IMO still a good watch
#26
Watched disney pixar cars last night, what a fantastic quality film.

The animation is superb, amazing picture and also a great storyline.

The new Death Race is well worth a look. Picture is great in blu ray, but the sound is fantastic...loudest film I've had on blu ray. It was a rental, but I'm going to buy soon.
Band of Brothers box set is one of my favorites, but thats more the content than the sound or pic quality.
Speed Racer is super colourful and fast moving.
#30
Watched iron man last week, again great quality.
#31
for me...

Dark Knight
Death race.....loved this film + the quality of the pic and sound is beautiful

i want terminator sarah connor chronicles...i imagine that is amazing
