cant see him getting away with self protection on that.

If that were you or I in a bar that were fighting it wouldnt make the headlines like this. Total waste off time if you ask me. The bloke he hit obviously wants a payoff.

He'll get a slap on the wrist or a chinese burn and a fine, Some of these footballers need to be given some jail time as a example that you can't buy your way out of trouble and your no different from anyone else when it comes to the law.

Of course it wouldnt make headlines but the evidence would still be the same.

Lets wait and see what the Judge/Jury say, the evidence is pretty damning...

He shouldn't of done what he did but for the dj to say that punch was like a pro boxing punch I wouldn't mind getting hit off a boxer for the money lol

theres 2 major questions to be asked after watching that footage...... why are they all singing the okay cockey (fits with the dance they were doing) AND why is everyone wearing the same clothes, is this the shell suit for the late noughties?
#28
fine is pointless and jail too, assuming this is his first offence.
should get a shed load of community service.

You put your transfer in,
Your transfer out,
In, out, in, out,
Shake it all about,
You do the Stevie Gerrard and you turn around,
And thats what its all about...

Idiot!

As many people have already said, had this not been a well known footballer then it wouldn't have got this far. Gerrard will face a trial, has not bought his way out of this. Will face his punishment if found guilty like any other person. Remember this isn't him kung fu kicking a spectator with studded boots and getting community service. This is a drunken brawl.

Your comment on how footballers are the same as everyone else and yet should be made an example of, shows how stupid you really are.

judging by the cctv video i think he deserves to serve some time, he may be a well known footy player but if that was just an ordinary person on the street no doubt he would get some sort of sentance, every time i see it i think god is that really the person u see every week, i guess he deserves everything coming to him hopefully

The problem is people do not serve time for doing that, more likely they get a slapped wrist.

I'll let the judge and jury decide what is best for Gerrard, I'm certainly not impartial on the matter. They will be, and the judge will take into account his good character and the fact that he doesn't go around every week beating people, unless it's on the pitch and he's brilliant at that.

But I am glad you are not a judge, small drunken brawls happen all of the time, if we jailed everyone then there would be hardly any people on the streets. I just thank god he wasn't speeding or worse still driving without a valid tax disc, he could have got life!

I don't see Gerrard hitting anyone in that CCTV footage.

What absolute rubbish, people are found guilty of affray up and down the country each and everyday, and here in this case there is CCTV footage which clearly shows the attack.
Also please understand that this is not a drunken brawl, this is an unprovoked attack by a group of drunken idiots on someone in their place of work.

One of Gerrard's friends comes up to the bar, and lamps McGee, then there's a small scuffle. Nothing to worry about.

If the video shows Gerrard attacking someone, why were the assault charges dropped to affray?

Porridge for Stevie G and pancakes for Mrs G?
#39
Mrs G can have my porridge if she likes :whistling:
(sorry, couldnt resist).

This sorta thing goes unpunished up n down the country week in, week out.
Hopefully they won't lock him up cos that won't do anyone any good (except Chelski, man u etc) and they just give him some useful community service and a large fine (which they should give to charity).
