My mates working eurocamp in france this year. Hes been going all over with the company for the last 3 years but were going to go and visit him this year instead of going a festival.

Trouble is where having trouble finding a decent deal...

We'll be going from Merseyside to France...

The place is le grand metiere carnac.

Hes going to try and sort us cheap accommodation but its the traveling there.

Anyone aware of any cheap ferry crossings to france of flights?

it will be pretty expensive on fuel-can any of you drive if you got cheap flights and a hire car?

You don't say when or if you plan to drive? Or how many people.

Plymouth to Roscoff ferry in July is £84 return per person (based on 4 people) going on foot.

You obviously then need to get the train/bus/hire car down to Carnac.

look at travelsupermarket car hire-i can see 7 days in june £165 which isnt much 4 ways?
i usually check the price on that then use quidco or tcb whatever..

you can get transfers i would think but wouldnt expect them cheaper than car hire.

Ferry travel on the Western Channel has suffered from a real lack of competition in recent years, The options are Condor, Brittany Ferries and LD Lines; budget £500 for a car and 4 adults. For Carnac the best option is Condor Ferries from Poole to St Malo, Poole is about 4 hours from the North West and Carnac is 2 hours from St Malo. Brittany Ferries offer options from Poole and Portsmouth to Cherbourg and Le Havre but have increased travelling across France. LD Lines run from Portsmouth to Le Havre with fast ferry sailings in the morning and an overnight conventional sailing.
Crossings from Dover to Calais are much cheaper but have far longer travel, Calais is over 400 miles from Carnac.
I've been to Carnac for the last 3 years, fantastic resort! I've stayed at La Grand Metiere, I actually prefer Camping des Menhirs as it is closer to the town and beach. We'll be there from mid July to mid August.
