I thought this was common knowledge, but from the constant stream of requests in the misc and for sale boards, I thought I'd post this:

Go here: http://www.orange.co.uk/time/dialup/

Go through the signup process, fill it in truthfully or not - up to you, but make sure your mobile number is accurate, and remember your email address and password you use. Signup is free, and you don't need to use the connection - although your account may get deleted after 250 days (just make another)

Go here: http://web.orange.co.uk/p/film/orange_wednesdays

Select Broadband Customer (it includes dialup as well)

Follow the instructions, and once does your mobile will act as though you are on orange - although you have to text 80241, rather than 241 like on orange.

I've listed the instructions below so you can see how easy it is:

1.
find your unique user name

First off you'll need to register with us, using your unique user name. Your unique user name is the part of your Orange email address that comes after the '@' symbol. So if your email address is [email protected], your unique user name is smith.orangehome.co.uk. Or if your email address is [email protected], your unique user name is slade.freeserve.co.uk. The same applies to Wanadoo email addresses.

2.
register for Orange Wednesdays

Text 'JOIN' and your unique user name (the bit after the @), to 80241 to register.
So for example, JOIN name.orangehome.co.uk

3.
get your 2 for 1 cinema tickets

We'll text you back, confirming you're registered, and that's it - you're done. You won't have to go through any of this again.

To get your tickets, just text the word 'FILM' to 80241 and we'll send your text tickets* straight to your phone. Simple.

4.
enjoy the film

When you get to the cinema, just show your text ticket to the nice man or lady at the box office, and you'll get your 2 for 1 cinema tickets.

*text tickets cost 35p

Some additional info:

Apparently sometimes this works straight away, other times you may need to wait for the various systems etc to sync up, so its worth doing it before you are about to leave for the cinema!

Also, it could be possible to bump the system by connecting once to the PAYG dialup number - do it offpeak and it'll cost you a penny a minute I believe, so probably worth doing, if you can remember how dialup works!

By the way... Orange state it can take up to 48hrs to enable your account etc... which is fine, but possibly bad timing by me as you won't be able to use it this wednesday! Oops.

Remember you also get 2-4-1 at pizza express, and 2 free lots of doughballs OR garlic bread!

Maybe I should have made this a deal - because frankly its a bit barmy

Finally... if you want to check on it or its still not working after 48hrs, but you don't wanna phone the 0906 number for dialup support, try this:

Dialup Customer support: 0844 412 2202

Then DON'T CHOOSE ANY OPTION. Just wait until the main menu repeats, wait again and you'll be connected.

Easier way from a non orange phone 100 per cent sure as I did this last Wednesday. Got a friend to 4ward the text and then changed his name to orange as last time they did the promo they asked to see the text. But this time they didnt they just asked the number and punched it into thier machine simple saving of around 7 quid!!!!!!!!!!

I know all the tricks :) but I posted this for the people who have to ask people to send texts in the first place :) - there are plenty of other ways etc.

scotland88: its almost all cinemas - all the major chains, and I think it includes the west end ones etc. Also pizza express offer covers all pizza express resturants :)

not working for me either - looks like might have closed this loophole :-(

think this might be working again - managed to register okay on the website, although the text registration isn't working but hopefully that will work in the next 48hours....
