Humax 9300T Freeview Recorder

I have just bought the Humax 9300T from Richer Sounds. When sorting the channels I only get 6 that work.

I'm not great with technical stuff - my mothers freeview box gets loads of channels, but mine doesn't.

Her box was £5.00 from Comet - Mine was £181.40 and she gets more channels. Both are in the same address - Hull - HU5 area.

Anyone know how I can get more channels, without buying a booster ?

i would take your box to your mums and see what channels you get, if still get only 6 then would suggest its the box but most likely your aerial. Take your mums box to yours and do the same, you can easily eliminate the box/ariel fom there.

We are in the same house, thats the frustrating thing ! I bet its something simple :)

oh i see. have you swapped the boxes over? maybe the cable to yours is old cable. I have found when installing these boxes that the old brown tv cable was rubbish mostly and just by replacing the cable to newer digital cable bought back the channels

Yeah, we just fitted a new White coax cable. My Sky contract ended too. So went for the top freeview box, recommended by all that have one.

Are they both connected to the same aerial?

Yeah, theres two cables though. The box gives a space to insert codes, but cannot find a site to get any...

Is it a roof aerial?

Is the cable divided with a splitter? If so, does the other freeview box still show all the channels after the aerial signal is split?

What happens when you connect the antenna out of your mum's freeview box to the antenna in on your freeview box?

With digital freeview boxes you really need an amplified splitter and not just a Y splitter like some people use. Check that you're aerial is amplified after you've checked the box on your mother part of the house. I've got the 9300T, great box.

Just checked my coax lead, its half White, half Brown, sealed in the middle with electrical tape. Also about 10 metres long...

Could this be a possible reason ???

and your point is?

swap them over and see if you can get more channels.

same address is irrelevant as you are using different aerial cables

Seems to suggest I need to take it to another address

Anyway, its not worth an argument. I've decided to get an aerial fitted for £45 - which was the best deal around.

Thanks for everyones input !

I just copied and pasted what was originally put.

why pay £45 for an aerial when

1. the box may well be faulty and testing on the other conenction will validate this?

2. A booster normally does the fix perfectly well and they're about £8 from argos?

£45 for a fitted aerial is unbelievably cheap. Is it a wide band digitial one on the roof?
