HUUUUUGE price difference between Currys and Tesco

Was looking for a small portable CD player yesterday and ended up in Currys
They had a Phillips cd player and radio small boom box thing (sorry I cant find it on the website) for £39.99 - not DAB or anything like that. I queried the price and was told it was correct - I really did laugh out loud as Id been looking at similar in Argos earlier for around the £20 mark. He printed the details and again it said £39.99. Went to Tesco - exactly the same model - £24.97

But what a HUUUUGE mark up!
Dont think Ill even bother looking in Currys again

#3
Sad news is that someone will actually buy at that price, without looking around first.

+1, do people think shops should work on no profit or something?
I'll bet theres stuff in tescos that currys sell cheaper too.

Price Promise.

Price promises give some reassurance that we're not being ripped off, but they can wriggle out of honouring them in lots of ways. The slightest difference in model or terms of sale and the price promise is useless:x

Like bread

Supermarkets can afford to sell cheap, draws customers in.

Curry's is running at a lot less profit. They cant afford to do it.

It is a business... not a charity

I think threads like this are useful. No one expects shops to work without profit but, come on now, the difference here is ridiculous!

So finally we will all buy our radios at Tescos as I personally prefer not to subcribe to Currys charity:thumbsup:

The Samsung American style fridge freezer I want to buy for £519, they had 2 display/pre-owned models instore at Curry's - wanted me to pay £599 for one PLUS £49 delivery from round the corner. They both had scratched and they wouldn't budge on that price :x :w00t:

Up to you to check, or ask on here in separate post!

Point is, this site is to save US money, not validate Currys (or any one elses) prices.

Must have been on special at Argos as well then......for all we know

The ones in argos were similar spec but different brands - so I was looking around the £25 mark.
I dont think Tesco were selling at a loss as this appears to be the right kind of price for this kind of player. I think Currys price was father inflated hense the thread. I did look at Currys website and cant find it. However this is the one on the tesco site. The numbers on the box match exactly with the ones on the page printed out by Currys - Its a Philips AZ102S
