I accidentally got nail varnish on the following things...

angelfairee Avatar
6y, 9m agoPosted 6 years, 9 months ago
1) My laptop
2) My white duvet cover
3) My cream carpet
4) My new hat
5) My white bra
6) My pine chest of drawers

Now...I have attacked the carpet with nail varnish remover and...it's still red. Ditto the duvet cover. I don't want to put nail varnish remover on anything else in case I make things worse.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it off of all these things!?

And yes, I am amazing.

so uhmmm, let me get this right, you were:
in bed (with a white duvet), in your underwear, on your laptop which is positioned on a chest of drawers, and your hat was next to your bed sitting on your cream carpet, all this whilst doing your nails and your poured your huge tub of varnish everywhere :P haha i would suggest bleaching/bleaching in nail varnish your white bra and chest of drawers, could be done with with sand paper and then revarnishing (with wood varnish not nail varnish)

Tip #4: I spilled dark purple nail polish on my light grey carpet. When I tried nail polish remover it didn't do a thing. Then a friend told me to try window cleaner and it worked great. I can't even tell it happened. Just found on google.Hope it helps.

Oh yeah sure. I'll just PM you it. Would you like me to model it as well, just so you can get a better idea of what it looks like with the damage caused?

That's not too far from the truth, to be honest.

I can't put anything in bleach because I'm fragile and sensitive...like a flower. :whistling:

My main question is...can I put nail varnish remover on my laptop? I promise I won't pour it all over.

Acetone, but check it doesn't dissolve the article first. A laptop should be fine. Cotton buds.

Then ... either reassess the colour schemes of your decor or your nail varnish.:-D

Okayyyyyy. I attacked the carpet and the duvet with window cleaner and I now have pink smudges instead of red ones. Hmm. Same with the hat, but they're little blobs so it's not so bad. Waah.

My laptop is fine, came off and hasn't melted.

My bra is unchanged.

I'm still scared to put anything on pine.

Paint over all spillages with paint. Use the closest match you can. No one will know.

On white stuff - I recommend tippex.

They already know. All stats have been on a PM round robin for the last few months.

for drawers see if sand paperings the varnish off is an option or not

and to correctly diagnose the bra fix we will have to know the size, good reminding there postman :P

Dye these the same colour as the varnish, if the acetone doesn't work

First person to even hint at a special cleaning solution should get banned for crimes against comedy. :p

I don't want to sand anything, I'm scared. Maybe the red makes a nice effect and I'll learn to live with it?! Seems to me that my only option left is to dye everything in my room red anyway so err...it'll match. :?

Chesso....my bra does matter! I only bought it the other day! It won't even rub into a pink smudge either, it just doesn't move at all. Serves me right for leaving stuff on the floor I guess.

Any other suggestions for getting nail varnish out of fabric greatly appreciated...

If you want it that much, you can have it. As long as you replace it with one from Agent Provocateur.

The bra is probably soluble in anything that will take out the nail varnish - only chance is to freeze and chip away????

Go ahead with the sanding - it'll be fine.

Tie dye!!

Can I put it in the freezer?! :-D

And...sanding with my nail file?!

Sometimes I wonder how I've made it this far in life.

Yes, freezer.
No to nail file - you will have to get some sand paper sheet, fine grade, from a DIY place.
Life is full of little tests, sent to try us!
