I am dissapoint!

.

About 4 months ago, we replaced the dishwasher and put the old one on the bottom of the drive. Amazingly, it was gone within 5 minutes of it being put there.

Literally, I put out our old washing machine on the same spot some 15 minutes ago. It was dark admittedly, but how come the pikies took so long this time?

Whats the average time for stuff to disappear from your drive?

Actually fair play this time... the guy even knocked to ask if he could take it! A rare event indeed!

LOL... I have to um admit I've actually been taken on that scam on my first house here. 4" Dig! yeh right! I got my dad to be there every day.... and he kept turning up and leaving once he realised someone was in. Eventually, he managed to arrive when no one was in!

So If I hadn't have paid him, I guess my car would have had no wheels.

Inb4 the grass in my area is so strong it cuts its way through tarmac in 2 months!

The sign of a true pikie is one that leaves kitchen appliances outside their house.

I'll let them know. I think they're always wanting to travel to fresh parts, especially where there is no competition.

Yup I agree. That's why I was dissapont he took ages. 15 minutes is far to long.

Where I used to work (Popular PC Company) - We put a metal display stand out the back. It went missing one day and a few days later someone came in and said he took a stand from the back and if we had another !! He was a traveller. Such honest people I think

i think it shows a savvy person, why pay to have it removed when the scrap men will come and take it for free.
#12
Nice of him to ask Guv,pleasant change.
Just be careful putting a skip in your drive.

Quite! I changed over the Washing Machine at lunchtime and only just got round to removing it from the house.

Absolutely. Though when we were having the log cabin built and extension work prior to that, we didnt have any problems with stuff being put into the skips.... though surprising, old scrap timber was removed!

Apparently a washing machine is worth £10 in scrap value.

brb giving Numpty advice for a new pick up! X)

I don't mind them taking stuff ... Saves me paying an uplift fee to the council...

Yup..... Just shocking they took 15 minutes. Being early evening is no excuse!

I'm going to get the gypsies to sort my shed and my fence.... Always found them alright tbh ...

Hmm. Make sure you empty the shed first!

lmao, my washing machine sat outside my back door for a month then mysteriously disappeared. They must have been very quiet, cos we never heard them, and the back door is all gravel, lol.

Washer/dryer was in our garden for over a month before someone asked for it, we were using it as a feature :D

in my old street what ever you put out was nicked within 10 minutes of it going out lol we used to watch them run across the road grab it and run back, in the new street even the scrap metal guys knock and ask if they can take stuff. I put out our old sofa before the week before Christmas it was there 2 days waiting for the council to collect it, ( snow) then the scrap guys came and asked for it.

I have loads of stuff to get rid of but would feel a right tramp leaving it out the front (no offence to anyone who does). My neighbours would not be best pleased!

Leave something on the front of the drive and it can take ages for someone to take it. Put a 'For Sale' sign on it though, and it'll be gone in minutes :)
#29
can you imagine trying to do a yard sale in the uk :D

I expect West Ham to get the stadium...... then be able to laugh at the fact they can no longer see who's who on the pitch. In fact I dont know a hammers fan that wants the stadium - other than for who it stops. Cutting off your nose to spite your face is very over rated.

Our council don't charge.

I always put stuff on freegle or give to friend's or family 1st though before I ring the council
