I AM REALLY SCREWED!!!!

As some of you know from the thread i posted last week its my girlfriend's birthday this week and she asked for a kitten. Now I didnt want to get one for a variety of reasons but due to a bit of emotional black mail and a total lack of ideas for an alternative present I reluctantly conceded defeat

Anway - Ive spent all week trying to get hold of one but they are rarer than hens teeth!! I know some people recommended an animal shelter but they have to do a home visit first. Now if i say this to the missus shes gona think i put no effort in and will think its a desparate last minute attempt to salvage the situation (which it is). Which means i will get no credit for it whatsoever and whilst she will be happy shes got the cat she will undermine it as a present at any given opportunity

So ive been reacking my brains for the last few hours of what i can get and cant come up with anything ( we have been together a while so ive got her all the traditional stuff at some point).

Ive come to the conclusion that im in trouble big time

#5

#6

#7

If you find one that you cant get yet (ie its not old enough ) you could give her a photo and tell hers that it will be her in x.. weeks.
Otherwise try local vets, they may know of someone with kittens for sale or be able to recommend a breeder.

I could give her the picture which would buy me some time to disappear and create a new identity and life for myself......
#13
tell her you want to get her a kitten but as its such a big commitment you would like you both to find and choose one togeher as she knows what type she wants and she may even know where you can get one from and buy her something for the day that shows you have put in the effort
#14
:?has it got to be a pedigree kind of kitten or just a little kitten , i will post on my forum and see what a can do:)
#15
tell her she already got a pussy cat and pay more attention to that for the night.
If your not available im sure my missus will give me the night off to help a HUKD person in need!
#16
like a bowl and a packet of cat food

if you can get away with some tongue in cheek humour you could buy her a sexy lil pair of kitten heel shoes and some sexy nightie and say look babes i know you wanted a kitty but i think ya pussy will look better in this

Think you may need to accept that you wont have an actual kitten by Weds. But if you have picked a breeder or someone who has a litter then you can say that you thought she would like to choose it herself and show her a pic of the litter! You can even arrange with the owner for her to visit on Weds to pick. Buy all the kitten paraphenalia and wrap that all up with the picture. She will be so pleased that you have got everything and thought about her choosing it you should just about get away with it.
I would rather choose my own than let someone else choose.

There are some available here, mostly pedigree but worth you looking at.

Also ring local pet shops and see if they have any adverts for kittens in their window.

We are not that far from you so I will look at our local stores tomorrow while I am out.

Try these, there are a few there including a charity that seem desperate to rehome quickly, maybe they will skip the home check.

try gumtree they have some on there in liverpool, good luck

As odd as it sounds, I had a similar issue...

It was around christmas, so I bought other presents and one stuffed kitten toy with an IOU.

That way, she knows your getting one and she gets to choose it.

My daughter has a friend whose Gran breeds Siamese, we are not sure of the age of the latest litter or price, but she will ask her tomorrow and we will post when we know. Good luck!

We lost our baby rabbit a couple of weeks ago, and found a rabbit breeder online through some of the above links, the kids were made up to be allowed to chose a new bunny, and quite happy to wait for her to be old enough to bring home. And there is no-one more impatient than kids! If you do the legwork and organise a possible I am sure she will be happy to wait a little longer.

LOL
Being honest it wouldnt matter what CD he bought me, my husband would be found floating in the Mersey if he bought me a CD instead of a kitten! Well pieces of him anyway! :)

pets are for life..... not just for birthdays.

however it would mean more to her if you went and got it together rather than you just getting one for her.
