Been really wet here! But think everyone is worried, because there may be more rain coming! Luckily for me, and my family, we are ok, but unfortunately some people are not so lucky.

But I cannot believe the attitudes of some people!

I live Workington, in Cumbria, and we went down to see the bridge. The place had a horrible eerie feeling and it made me, a bit, upset.

But while I was down there, a couple of, well lets say, 'lads' were bothering a policeman. They were asking him "How will I get my dole?!" and then called him a load of profanity because he didnt know what they should do.

I mean come on! The man has probably just lost one of his mates, has a load of work to do, hes looking out for peoples safety, the headquarters has been flooded out! And these two idiots, who in my opinion, from the way they were talking, were on a come down, were given this police officer a hard time. This was while he was trying to help in a horrid disaster. A holes! Sorry, rant over.

And then to top it, the Halifax phone asking if I want life insurance! Are they taking the p**? Sorry again.

I am in Carlisle and I wonder if this has something to do with the pretty much massive amount of traffic jams, all day queues everywhere and pubs full of loud idiot drunks, more than usual.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I think a lot of people have used today as an excuse to start the weekend early.

Hey, Do not worry about your family. Whitehaven has not been affted at all and Workington seems to be alright now. Plus, as you probably know, workington does not have they many houses on the derwent, so your family should be ok.

I know the natural thing is to worry, hope you are well!

I understand its an awful situation and I hope everyone down there is OK and obviously wouldnt wish anything like that on anyone........although I had to ask, why did you want to 'down to see the bridge'....I have never understood why people do things like that, then seem shocked when theyre affected by it. I remember there was once a shooting at the end of my street, and everyone felt the need to go 'look' then spent ages making out they had been exposed unwillingly to this sight when it was completely their choice :?

If I was the PC getting grief I would have just said 'swim'.......

we live near and the bridge was just such a landmark of the town. Also, i think it was that shocking we had to see it with our own eyes. Regarding someting like a shooting, I would find that weird. Ditto about the policeman.
