Yes! Since my days began on this Earth I have been in education, and now, after 4 months of being a "job seeker" (dole scum as someone politely put it) I got my first job... I'm so happy to be working, next time you phone up Sky it might be me you shout at!

Thanks to everyone here for posting stuff to keep me from going insane from the boredom!

What was the training like? I won't receive my "offer pack" till Monday and that's when I start training! Got called up last Thursday asking if I wanted an interview, then yesterday I went for it and 10 minutes later the head of the recruitment team left me a voicemail which I didn't see until this morning! It's all so fast :-D
#16
Excellent, thats one less person living of the state...Well done
#17
Yeh they are pretty desperate lol. I've been here ten years, no idea what the training is like now but who cares, free sky, woohoo :)
#18

You'd think they weren't too desperate up here, I went for the Broadband support job last month and I have a degree in computing and I actually enjoy working with networks... but computer said no  If computer was a competency based interview! Any ideas how easy it is to move between the different departments? Broadband sounds so much more my thing
#20
Yeh, they dont like to hire people over qualified as it is proven they are the most likely to leave. They like ot hire people that have no hope in life and are likely to stay here forever, like me lol......

when do you start?
#22
welldone, if u remember me and us not gettin on b4 then im soz! goodluck with the job.
#23
Well done!

I used to work at the Sky in livingston in my student years but i didnt enjoy it much. I was in tech support and the amount of calls was overwhelming at times (100 + calls a shift!)

Good luck though, its always good to start getting work plus if you work hard and are determined, you can go far and work your way up anywhere.

I would like to work in the broadband team as apparently it's longer but far less calls but we'll see how I get on :-D

If you want to work in networks or even infrastructure work then I suggest you shoud look into doing courses and certifications. I recommend Cisco, Microsoft, VMWare and Citrix courses as a starting base. Those certifications are highly sought after in the IT world.

Just because your finished your degree doesnt mean the education is over
#26
Sky have put me through my CCNA and MCSE :) They are good for progressing up :) A good starting block, to be honest I like it here ;)
#27
lol ill make another some time!
#28
Well done, hope you enjoy it & earn lots of money ...!
#29
Yeah I'm thinking of starting the Microsoft courses, I was going to start in 2 weeks but I might catch the next one as It will conflict with my Sky training
#30

posting a thread on the freebies section of HUKD for all members to get free sky! :-D
#33
I'll be the person that you phone up when your channels vanish or you get a code to get the movie channels for 1p or when you need a remote control code, that sort of thing :)

I wish I could give out free Sky, but you'll have to talk to PAT (can't remember what it stands for, but it's retentions) :-P

Now that would be cool. Unlikely...... but cool!

One day abomination... one day...

When I was doing the role play exercise part of the interview I really couldn't justify the prices of some of the packages, £43 for everything and £15 for a boxing match? I never would pay that :-D
