I gave 4 bags of stuff away of freecycle to someone who claimed they were for a toddler group

Loads of toys, A portable dvd & tv and cd player.
I wanted it to go to somewhere/someone that would be greatful and use it,

Went to the carboot today and she was there selling it all!!!!!!!!
Plus other things that she proberly got off there
So mad...

I was too angry to do/say anything

If I were to report her to freecycle would they ban her?
Or is it 'just one of them things'

What do you think?

"proberly"

did you give your dictionary away? :?
#2
I'd let it go.

Maybe next time - if there is one - you could donate it to a nursery/toddler group/charity shop
#3
Ban her? Yes I would I'm a moderator on freecycle, report them to a moderator, whci group was this?

I don't think you have any recourse, but clearly they are low-life. Next time, just "accidentally "knock over their tables with everything on. I fyou're recognised I doubt they will kick up much fuss.

It would on a CV....

So, yes.

It's been discussed on my freecycle group's cafe from time to time and it does generate a lot of anger and rightly so!

I personally would report them to your freecycle owner as they mis-represented themselves. On our group ppl are allowed to request items to sell on at car boots etc but they do have to be upfront about it. When posted offered items I do see the offer comes with either "feel free to sell on" or "don't want to be sold on". In the hope that ppl show respect to each other. Since those rules came in we've not had many alerts of ppl doing it.

Actually that is a very valid point.

I think I will contact a mod now, they may just get some details from her and if she was doing it genuinly for the group it shouldnt be a problem.

I see what your saying, but it wasnt crap. A lot of very decent toys (which are expensive) I could have sold them myself no problem but thought maybe there were people out there that may put good use to them thats all.

Sounds bang out of order to me. I'd have asked for the money she'd acculumated there and then for basically taking your property under false pretences.

Deffo report her. (Not sure what good that will do - but it'll make you feel better!)
#21
I would've made a scene so everybody is aware of this person's antics so she wouldn't be welcome to sell again .The Beeyach.
#22
Thanks all. Now reported. If she did the boot sale for the toddler group she should be fine if not I hope they ban her.

yes i would feel the same,i dont give away that much on there now
we dont have alot of money ourselves and when i give things away i do it thinking that they are genuine people who maybe dont have much money to buy new or would just appreciate the items
#24
We have groups that ask for items to sell on to raise money for their toddler groups/charities etc and I'm sure our group owner vets them first and we have something on our yahoo thingy that lists them - they do appeals from time to time and ppl give knowing exactly what is happening with their things and want to help.

Not much to ask that ppl just be honest is it really.

Then maybe best if you don't use Freecycle and give to a charitable organisation.....not that you can trust them either in my experience.

Gave in some designer clothers/shoes etc to a certain charity and saw one of the assistants out in some of the clothers that weekend

I give stuff to my nieces now.....it's retro apparently :w00t:

wasn't exactly going to make a scene with a 6 month old baby and a 4 year old with me, would you?
#37
damn right i would ,,,

telling someone in no uncertain terms they're taking the p,,doesnt have to involve creating a scene as you put it,

maybe im being unfair to you but in my world noone would of got away with that!
#38
To be honest I stopped using Freecycle ages ago - it's now full of people just asking for stuff over and over, like

"has anyone got a spare nintendo ds lite for my child"
or
"I need a laptop for college work"
etc..

The whole point of the site is to find another home for things you don't want any more and people just take the mick.

For instance, someone asked for a small 4-port hub (about 2 years ago) and I happened to have one brand new that i'd not used since buying it. He came and collected it and I received an email later that evening, "Thank you very much, I can now connect my son's PS3 to the network". So someone could afford a £430 games console and wasn't prepared to spend an extra tenner for a network switch?

If you have anything you want to go to a good home, just bag it up and take it to the nearest Charity Shop - they'll be extremely grateful for it.

I see what your saying, I suppose after me seeing it, I think I was too shocked to say anything and angry also. Then the kids, I suppose I should have thinking back. Cant do anything about it now though.
