Weel as some of you know i got my ear pierced twice yesterday! once on the top of my ear (pinna) and the middle bit which sticks out (tragus). The tragus hurt soooo much! So anyways im having a few troubles trying to clean them with all of the cinflicting information i have been given. So what is the best way to clean them? i have been trying to use sea salt and tap water but i just seem to get in a mass if i try to soak it and by useing a cotton bud i dont think it really does much. So can anyone suggest anything else please?

thanks

hold your head sideways and soak a cotton wool ball in diluted TCP and squeeze - the cotton wool ball that is - it will drip onto your ear - it will also go in your ear but you can just tip it out - lol

I'm a piercer, my advice is you should only soak it once a day in a salt water/saline solution. DO NOT TURN/MOVE THE JEWELLERY!!

To make a salt water solution, put 2 pinches of salt (sea salt preferably but normal salt will do) into a litre of boiled water and mix. Wait until its cooled, you can use it warm but not hot, and soak your piercings using either a cotton wool ball or egg cup filled with water for about 5 minutes.

Please don't use savlon/tcp as the chemicals will aggravate your piercing and extend healing times. They are far too harsh.

Should do the trick :)

Great, thanks, il do that then.

I have one more question though, will it be ok to use tap water?

I have given everyone rep :)

i had my belly button pierced so a pretty big hole compared to an ear piercing, i never touched it with cotton buds or anything, i sprayed all the time with savalon, and pured salt water on it whilst bathing, and never had any problems, my friend who used salt water and buds had continual problems with healing, until she stopped and did as i did, to much fiddling go on will not help with healing
