I HATE DEBENHAMS!!

I have just had this below email;

"We apologise that we were unable to fulfil your recent order placed on our Website. Due to phenomenal demand, some stock lines were sold out quicker than expected. Debenhams always strives to deliver exceptional customer service, and we are disappointed that we fell short in this instance."

I just called them and they have said that everything I ordered is out of stock. Considering I ordered at 7am on the first day of the sale (Wednesday morning) I find it very hard to believe everything is out of stock.

I also find it highly convenient that they choose to tell me today, the day after the sale has finished. My local Debenhams store had everything I had ordered in stock yesterday afternoon. Now, everything is back up to full price.

I am absolutely fuming. Debenhams always cancel something from my order but never before have I had the whole order cancelled! I am just really angry that if the had got their act together and told me sooner, I could have got all the items in store, now they are all back up to full price!!

In their email they also state;

"As a gesture of goodwill, should you wish to replace the order with our Debenhams To You home delivery service, we can offer you up to 30% off Fashion/Home items or up to 20% off Cosmetics/Furniture (*exceptions apply). This discount is valid from Monday 19th May through to Saturday 24th May 2008 only."

However, all the items I ordered where half price so 30% isn't enough and all the items I ordered are sold out in the sizes I ordered so I can't reorder them anyway! What really gets me is that when I was browsing online yesterday, everything I ordered was still in stock so has magically gone out of stock overnight!

I am so bloody angry!

always been the same whenever i've ordered from the debenhams sale :-( they just hold onto your money for ages & then send you this email & refund you. I won't bother with them again unless it's an unmissable deal.

Then I will keep sending emails! Lol!

No point in phoning them because a) they just say sorry and / or are very unhelpful and b) I would most likely get really angry and nasty to whoever I am speaking to and seeing as its not really their fault, they just work there - I would feel bad afterwards!

I will just wait and see if I get a response, they say they will respond within five days. If I have not heard anything within five days then I will just send another email. I might even send a complaint letter to head office but it would probably just be ignored so its not worth it!

I worked for Debenhams for 9 years and left just before they were bought out. Try this it may/may not work it will depend entirely on the manager at the time....... take your order and email to a store and ask to speak to the Store Manager (do not explain before you get a manager what the problem is - just say its about an order I placed) .. they will probably get you a department manager (these managers can also do the deals) .. when the manager arrives just explain exactly what has happened (stay polite and calm because this will make them feel you are genuine and more prone to actually giving you the items at the price you should have paid on your order. Then finish off with..."I appreciate that I did not originally come into your store like I normally would but I was not available due to work commitments so ordered on line to get the deal .. is there any way, due to the late notification of your online department, that you can give me the original discount on the goods now"... they will say something like .. I'm sorry but the sale is now over to which you reply "I understand that but I would have arranged for someone to come into the store if Debenhams online had notified me earlier that they were unable to fulfill my order could you not as a goodwill gesture for a regular customer to honour the Debenhams discounts"..... if you stay calm and polite they will give you the discount because a sale is a sale to them so they are more likely to give it to you than to some one who his giving them grief - make them feel they are doing you the biggest favour in the world and they will give you the discount (unless of course you get a right 'jobsworth' - lol)...........good luck

I think HUKDers should stop simply ranting in these threads and team up to do something. Right now, we should be arranging to all send kimbyanne e-mails with how we have been disgusted by their service in the past so that they can add them onto an e-mail they send back to Debenhams.

They might be in for a shock when they open up an e-mail to find another 200 attached also complaining.

I'm havin problem with them too. Ordered at necklace from them on 24 April, it never turned up so i assumed it was another unfulfilled order due to unprecendented demand. They then took the money for the necklace out of my account on 12 May, I rang them and they had no record of it and suggested it may be coming from another warehouse they have no connection with? Day after i got the apologising letter, saying necklace no longer available ... WTF?
Also made me sound thick on the phone. I rang about a missing parcel and they said the info was sent out to courier again. Forgot the debenhams blah blah terminology she used, but it did not answer my question. So I put it bluntly .. have you got my parcel in the warehouse or has the courier got it? To that she said in not so many words ' I don't know, try ringing back on monday if you still have nothing'.
They now have no stock of the items I want ..... noooobs.

I'm not a fan either. Ordered a DAB radio a couple of years ago which was faulty. Returned it for a replacement no problem. Then a few months later they claimed I hadn't paid for it. I talked them through each payemnt/refund made and explained I had but the arrogant guy i spoke to insisted that I still owed them. Eventually they changed their story and said I had not reutrned and started to send legal letters. I wrote a stinking letter back and haven't heard from them since.
Next time I tried to order from them they cancelled my order (without notifying me).
They're not getting a third chance! :)

Just thought I would update you all on how rubbish Debenhams is;

As you see from my original post, I placed a order the first day of the sale at 7am, got a email through Saturday morning (the day after the sales finished in store) to say all my items were out of stock. I called them and they confirmed this.

A few days later I noticed some money had been taken out of my Bank Account and paid to Denbenhams so I called them on Tuesday to find out why. I ordered three items, tanning kit, mens swim shorts and mens sandals. I was told tanning kit wasn't even showing on my order, swim shorts were out of stock and sandals had been dispatched. I then got put through to another department because the tanning system wasn't showing on my order. This department told me that the tanning system was cancelled (but they dont know why) but both the swim shorts and sandals were ready for dispatched (not dispatched yet as the first person said). I was told I would receive my items by Thursday. I didn't.

Called them yesterday and was told swimming shorts were out of stock but sandals would be dispatched soon!!

So, three different people using the same systems have told me three different things.

I am still not 100% on what is going to arrive, if anything! The money they have taken totals the sandals and shorts but they are saying the shorts are out of stock!

ARGH! I bloody hate Debenhams!

Yeah, I've had similar experiences. I called about my replacement DAB radio a few times, when it was showing as in stock on the web they told me it was OOS. Incredibly, they don't really seem to know what's in stock and what isn't. As Alan Sugar would say "It's a bl00dy shambles!"
