Hey all, I have a headache. Usually they are back of the head, thumpers. And just cant do anything about them.

This is what I have tried

Paracetamol
Ibuprofen 400mg
Aspirin

The only thing that comes close is co-codamol.

So, is there anything more powerful? I know i should go and see the quacks but what should I ask for lol!

Thanks for the advice!

Go to the doctor. There should be no reason why any of the mediction didn't work.

Ask for a C.T. scan, could be MSP.
#2
make sure youre drinking plenty water. alot of headaches are down to dehydration
#3
go and get neurofen extra - iboprofen lysine or sodium ibuprofen. work a real treat for migraine
#4
try paracetamol and ibruprofen together

Drink plenty of water and do some heavy breathing in through the nose. Headaches are usually dehydration of the brain.

Yep, care to point out where the OP has said they've tried mixing medication? Assumption is bad mkaaay;-)

If its a tension headache try syndol, its excellant. I usually take paracetamol with a strong coffee, seems to help the headache get better more quickly.

People here are correct about the dehydration- Go to your local chemist/pharmacy and ask for Dioralyte. Restores salts and sugers that the body needs. Or simple use any other fluids that contain electrolytes i.e. Poweraid.

Other signs of dehyration includes the colour your Pee. The darker the pee the more dehyrated you are. If you have not uranated in 24 hrs, please go to a walk in centre ASAP or hospital.

If signs of urine is normal and you have drank water and headaches still persist in 24 hours, go to your doctor.

I used to get bad headaches. My solution was to completely cover my eyes to block all light and throw open the windows to get fresh air. My problem was I needed glasses. These day I just take about 1200mg of Ibuprofen and try to sleep. Works for me.

i got 15mg and 30mg of the doc , 30mg is :w00t: :w00t:

i get bad headaches sometimes, but i just wait them out. i had a scan whilst still at school but they found nothing wrong. i put it down to dehydration as i dont drink much. i also find like you that fresh air works

is that amount of ibuprofen safe? is it the equivalent of 3 tablets? ive taken 2 ibuprofen with 2 paracetamol at the same time and that seems to help alot

I just found one of my wifes solpadol, 30mg codeine. And oh yes. they are stress relievers. Problem is, they can be addictive! So I have heard.

Some interesting comments, there are 2 kinds of ibuprofen?

good old wikipedia! lol

When the headache is bad bad, I have taken ibuprofen 400mg and 2 paracetamol. but I find the body gets used to these tablets, and they dont have an effect.

Is there any other combination which will work?

They are very addictive.

Also when you get a glass of water for them to dissolve in and say it is a large tumbler type or do NOT use anything less than half full. (smaller fatter type use nearly full)

Only use less water if you start to become immune to the tablets please also note you may get the runs or the opposite (constipation from their use) as well as rebound headaches especially if you have to keep taking lots of high dose codeine.

They also have 500mg of paracetamol and caffeine in them as well as sorbitol

Well I Am impressed with the advice!

1200mg ibuprofen Is the max in a day (400mg three times a day with food)

Or could try fourhead/4head none medicinal product

Best to go and see your local pharmacist!

have you had an eye test recently? I was suffering from headaches a lot and found i needed glasses for when m on the computer....only headaches i tend to get now are thro dehydration or alcohol induced :)
#28
yer my eyes are quite bad. have to wear lenses all the time.

Could be something to do with that. I think they are more stress related tho lol, so no cure!

I have very bad headaches very often & have been having them for a long time.
1st went to the opticians who found not much change in my vision.
Doctor gave me alot of different types of tablets to try but still got them.
Just been to see the opticians again but a different one who told me to try different things one at a time to see if anything improves as he suffers from migranes aswell.
1. Drink plenty of water as dehydration causes headaches.
2. If the headaches are in the morning then change your cushion, mattress to see if it helps.
3. Could be the way you sit / walk as it could put pressure on your spine. (told me to see a specialist but can't remember what they are called, & this was the cause of his headaches).
4. Your veins at the back of your neck could be stiff for many reasons which cause headaches (mainly headaches at the back of the head )
Hope this helps as i am about to change my cushion to see if it makes any change.
