been learning for far too long now, since december last year. im so nervous, i know its only a mock but im pappin myself. had one a few months ago and failed miserably.

so i was wondering, how did your mock compare to the real thing? and did you fail your mocks but still pass your actual test?

My first instructor was really young and used to shout at me to get me to do stuff... I swear I almost didnt wanna get in a car after that!

My next one was this LOVELY old guy, so patient and kind and i flourished under him, he'd say " go on just a lil faster" as I was crawling along at 25mph.... lol

He would tell me I was ready to pass ages before I actually had the confidence to do it, bless him.

You get to this stage dont you like a kinda plateau where you dont feel you're learning...

Dont worry hun I'm sure you'll be just fine just need a bit more confidence to do it xxxx

ive stuck with the same instructor since i started, hes been teaching for 25 years so knows what hes doing. he never shouts (even the time i nearly got us killed by coming so close to going into the back of a grass cutter)

hes told me im 'knocking on the door' of my test. he thinks im just about test standard but he wants me above a little to allow for nerves setting me back a bit.

my biggest problem is preparing ahead and judging gaps at roundabouts and junctions, sometimes i hesitate too long and others im jumping infront of the traffic

but your right, i'll get there eventually :)

i thought the majority of people would have a mock? the one i had months ago was so helpful as i now know what to expect on a test.

i find that the easiest maneuver, i dont even plan my turning points now i just go with it, and if im coming in too close or too wide i know how to correct it easy enough. hope i get this one on my test

one mock test, 3 majors ha :) then passed my real one the next week with 4 minors (3 of which were really silly and should of been easily avoided) I was pretty nervous on my mock, but totally relaxed on my real one, as all the other learners in the waiting room for the real thing were obviously bricking it, which for some reason calmed me down :)

I had my real test two weeks ago. Passed first time, yay! but failed every mock I ever did!

I was very nervous in my mocks - but I was so busy concentrating in the real one I didnt notice the examiner next to me.

Don't worry if the mock doesnt go well - they do them so you know what to expect and to get your nerves out of the way. If you fail a mock it doesnt mean you'll fail the real thing! Good luck!

And some female ones too :whistling:

I drive alot and see so many women AND men that shouldn't be on the road but there you go, they pass and think they are ok

Some are so bad, I am sure they don't understand the concept of a roundabout

Sorry if I ramble, just got in from a lovely meal but had a quick read through this thread, I took 2 tests, my first in automatic due to being bought an auto and couldnt wait, then had to take a manual test when I wrote my auto off (not my fault) and got given a bmw manual which i couldnt resist.

I felt when i took my second test (after id been driving for years in auto) that i was been literally taken for a ride as my lovely :roll:instructor said i needed about 30 lessons  so I got a second opinion, booked in with a different instructor who said he would be honest. I had 1 'trial' lesson, he told me to book my test and he'd pick me up on the morning of my test and i didnt need any lessons, my confidence was shot due to my other instructor . But he insisted so much that he said if i failed he'd pay for my re-test and all lessons following if i failed.

I passed with 2 minors. Try another instructor and ask just to get an opinion. x

i dont think its down to my instructor, its me making silly mistakes. he always goes over each mistake thoroughly.

hes been teaching 25 years so i dont doubt his ability to teach. im close to my test now and to change instructors might be a set back.
