I have a phobia of phoning people. What's your Phobia?

It might be interesting to see how many people on here have a phobia and what that phobia is. I can't phone people, though receiving calls isn't so bad.

What's your phobia?

I am like this too. Before texting I used to talk for hours on the phone. Now I hate it. I guess texting is bad in that way. Were you like this before texting (or are you too young to remember a time before texts!)

Nothing as strong as a phobia, but I hate cotton wool.

When my son was a baby I would panic thinking about using it when I changed him.
I luckily found out that if you doused it in baby lotion, it would lose it's awful texture.

Either that, or there is a 50% viscose(?)/50% cotton wool mixture that was quite bearable

I get shivers thinking of cotton wool, especially the tearing of it...

I also have a phobia of getting my front teeth stuck in a can hole...and having to pul it off and scraping the side of my teeth

I'm 21, so of course i remember that stone age of communication. It was probably being brought up with the use of the internet/e-mail/computers that's got me so anti-phone. We had a computer since i can remember (ahh, remember all the oldies: commodors, amstrads, those were the days) and as soon as i hit the age where i wanted to start communication with the outside world, i'd just run to my friends house and say "want to come out and play" or, when friends were further afield, emails were "the emerging thing". Me and the internet: a love hate relationship.

That new or unknown one is a bit of a thing for me to.

Is being scared of axe wielding serial killers a valid phobia?

Did you know that humans, on average, swallow 8 spiders a year in their sleep. This is also the average number of times people fart during one nights sleep.

I give you the gift of knowledge.

I have a very bad phobia of needles (they gave up trying to get a blood test last time as vessels kept collapsing) which I really need to do something about but at the moment still going for the out of sight, out of mind way of thinking :(

I've never understood the needles phobia...but then I'm sure plenty of people don't understand my phobias..

 However, I can't seem to find anything that says its eight in a lifetime...:-(

wow, 2 people have said cotton wool - I had a mate who hated the stuff and could never understand why, never heard anyone else say cotton wool before. I understand the texture thing though, remember those great big (shudder) golf ball bubble gums? I can't even bare to think about them, hate the thought of chewing them. Same with standing on wet rubber in trainers - that squeak makes me shudder, can't bare the thought of it.

To be honest I would think a needle phobia is one of the easier ones to understand, it's not a particularly pleasant looking device with a sharp needle which is going to inflict pain. This creates knock on reactions which means the tensed muscles cause more noticeable bruising after the injection and then beyond that a reflex action drops the blood pressure.

But I can trust in the fact that it is safe, it doesn't hurt, it is for my benefit, and its going to be very, very quick and it just doesn't bother me, but I'm sure that not wanting to answer the phone sounds completely irrational to you

I hate the feel of toilet paper, it makes bathroom trips interesting and very unhygenic.

My other phobia is hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia, it makes me cringe - some people have sick senses of humour.

I don't think a phobia to answering a phone is all that irrational, I have had a slight fear ever since a friend of mine hooked my phone to the mains and then called me. The little prankster.
#30
My phobia is seeing people putting material in their mouths, makes me throw up.

Bombs and Nuclear war :-(

Bombs and Nuclear war :-(

Well look on the bright side - At least you don't have to encounter them on a regular basis.

But you're totally f**cked if they do come along!

Unless I'm outside the rings, I just end up a bit mangled! It does creep me out though, and the sound of the old alarms in the war. Ahhhhhhhh
#35
Mangled? You'd be pretty much doomed in the event of a Nuke going off. No matter where you are in the country. Sorry to say.

Do you seriously have that bad a Phobia of Bombs & Nuclear War? Like I said, it's a kind of good thing in a warped sorta way. 'Cause what are the chances of either of those things ever crossing your path? Pretty slim I'd say.

I have a slight Phobia of Spiders. And I'm a 25 y/o old male. Sad I know! But they aren't gonna kill me, unlike a Nuke going off all over my ass!

Its not as bad as it used to be, I used to have panic attacks and I had about an hours sleep tops. Its not so much bombs, more nuclear war. I can sleep peacefully now so no worries

Spiders

Wasps and Bee's (convinced myself I'm allergic to both of their stings lol)

Not really a phobia, but I cannot stand the texture of Corduroy.

And I also have a slight phone phobia :?
I have to work up the courage to ring people, if I dont personally know them lol.
