I don't think you can [could be wrong], but you could install Open Office instead.

Hi. Have you got an external CD/DVD drive? Wine will work with any version on any Linux.

Sorry, but why would you want to do this? The beauty of Ubuntu is that it has a great free Office suit (Open Office) built in. Why would you want to pay for an MS Office licence, and run it using Win (very slow). Stick with open source software.

Compatibility would be my guess, Open Office is very good however it's files dno't tend to work that well with Office - while they'll usually open formatting can be out as well as more complex features. If the person is wanting Office 2000 because they use the same at work then they'll probably find Openoffice not suitable.

If you can get access to the setup files, on the CD, or using a memory stick, just click on the setup.exe and it will run.

Compatibility reasons. On my home computer i use word and when i transfer the files to open office it changes all of my layout around. Apart from that i can't fault open office but its just annoying changing it back each time
