My man is a love and is constantly changing baits etc..

We have four baits and he is always looking for their nests to destroy outside.

Any advice please, I don't like non paying tenANTS!

If you have tried all the potions and gels I would call in the council pest control (hopefully they won't arrive with PEST CONTROL written in huge letters over the van!

My mother-in-law uses bleach along the their run / entrance area. Seems to work.

It might be worth going online to find a industrial solution / gel / powder. I think that the stuff you buy in the garden centre is not that great.

Some advice here:

have you tried NIPPON the ants carry it back to the nest and it then poisons them in the nest.

First of all, kill all ants indoors and try to keep crumbs etc to a minimum.

Use a weak mixture of vinegar to swab all surfaces where ants have been seen. This is important as they use acid trails to find their way about and that is why they can all find a trail if one finds a food source. Swabbing with vinegar masks their own acid trails and they get disoriented.

Outsidethe house (the last thing you want to do is to encourage them into your house!) put down a poison bait as follows.
Make a 50/50 mixture of sugar and Borax (available from chemists). You can use a dry mixture just grind a little with a mortar and pestle.

Place little mounds - about a teaspoon or so - on their trails. They are attracted by the sugar and eat it taking in the borax at the same time. They take it back to the nest where they share food with others in the nest. Borax kills them.

If a large number are attracted, you might want to make a strong solution of the mixture by adding about one teaspoon of water to a tablespoon or so of powder. Make the solution as strong as possible by stirring in more powder until no more will dissolve. This gets more into the nest in a shorter time.
You have to be diligent and replace the powder as it is used up or after rain. It is a good idea to cover the mounds, just place four little stones in a square and place a bit of tile/slate/ wood on to act as a lid. This should keep other animals from eating the powder.

Best of luck

Using that in 4 baits, they seem to just come back after a few hours:x

thats the idea , they come back and keep taking the bait until the nest is poisoined , it takes about a week to get rid of a nest of ants.

Our kitchen used to overrun with the little black demons! We just found out where they were coming in from - under the door, through the windows etc.. and ant powdered their entrances etc. They soon get the message! :-)
