I've got a vine in my back garden too. Strangely I just checked and there appears to be some missing! :w00t:

Hehe. Tis true at my last house though we had a vine there and it was surprising just how many bunches of grapes it produced. Nother did anything with them though - and they didnt taste all that nice!

Yeah done it with a special apple juice making machine, tried on friends grapes and bottled it up. Leaving in to fermentate.

Next day go into larder and the bottle has exploded and grape juice/ wine is all over (floor, ceiling and walls)

Took a lot of effort to clean up. :w00t:

I would recomend asking someone who knows their stuff!

Hope this helps

My dad makes wine, mainly elderberry and it tastes fab but is very strong.

Btw how was the homebrew lager - ready yet???
banned#36
As sort of mentioned above it is theft, I've read up on it myself and anything that overgrows onto your property is not your property. You can cut it down though but you have to put the trimmings or fruit into next doors garden, but as you say you are good mates. But don't 'sore' the relationship by not asking her permission first.

I used to make wine years ago, first you crush the fruit and strain it into a demijohn (gallon glass bottle) add sugar and yeast then use a water trap stopper so the gases can bubble through it but flies etc cant get in, you need a hydrometer to keep checking how much alcohol you have in the wine then when there is enough you bottle it, then you wait for ages, that is the worst part. Then you drink it and it rots your guts, should taste ok tho, lol!! :whistling:
