All the software ought to have been provided if you have the USB modem.

If it's like the 3 USB modem, then just plug the stick into one of your laptop's USB ports and it will automatically install the necessary software (it's on the stick).. that's about it...

i have the usb modem and have easily installed it in my laptop but i couldn get it started on my mums new one and i think its cause its the cheap one from asda Acer Aspire One AOA150-Ab Netbook and its run on Linux OS no windows

That is the problem. Linux.
I doubt if your laptop will run Windows.

You need to contact 02 to see if there is a workaround for Linux.

Ah right, now I get it. Yes, I'd imagine it is designed only for windows or mac os, not Linux.

Just did a quick google search and it seems the 02 doesn't have a driver for Linux, but the 3 modem does....

I don't think it is going to work until 02 release a driver. It might be worth going over to 3 as Liddle ol' me suggests.

A google search should find this. I have the 3 modem and it does work with Linux - but not out of the box. When I was messing with it on Linux one evening, I never managed to get to to work though. (About 8 months ago.) Hopefully there are better instructions online now than when I was trying. But I know 100% certain it does work.

cheers all but gonna take laptop back and get my mum one which has windows sooooooooo much easier

They do work on linux but you need a version or distro based on ubuntu 8.10. plug it in and then click the wireless icon on your taskbar and you will see 3g broadband listed, enter your details like service providor and your away.
