Hi marshallka, my son said his mum is getting him one, but I doubt she has.
If I get one for RRP, I will sell it to her.

I will add £5 for everytime i had to visit, write, phone my solicitor and attend court to get my contact order. :x

Ebay prices will seem cheap in comparison. :giggle:

Great thread title- ooh, I feel like we're on Trisha!
#8
Can we have some Wii Wiiler-Dealers in here please? Without them this thread will be dead. ;)
#9
I wouldn't fancy it but they are just trying to make some cash. If people are dumb enough or really can't wait until the post-xmas stock glut - well it is fairly victim-less and it beats cleaning toilets for a living.

Who is more of a soulless leech? The wii selling del-boy or the person who has a "legit" job who has to push people in to buying insurance or extended warranties etc.

I was trying like mad to get one for my daughter, struck it lucky and got two! I had been going to hold on to the extra one and stick it on ebay next week, but now maybe I'll just return it to Toys r us. Does this make me a Wiiler Dealer?

Personally I have nothing against the Wiiler Dealers, but I know that some here do. As you say, they are entitled to make a small profit and are certainly no worse than the high street retailers, specifically those forcing large Wii bundles onto people.

Then of course there's overclockers.co.uk charging well over 300 quid for a Wii plus Wii Sports! At least on Ebay you stand the chance of getting a relative bargain - I've seen a few go for about £205 today.

Nope, because you're returning it for a refund. :)

Sell it on Ebay, Amazon Marketplace or to a friend, even for the price you paid for it, THEN you're a Wiiler Dealer. :)

Be a wii dealer and don't let peeps get to. Its mostly the ones who haven't managed to get one that are complaining. (I still need another myself) but i don't begrudge anyone selling them on for ANY kind of profit. What i do object to on ebay etc is counterfeit goods.

Ahhh but you see I MIGHT return it, I really don't know what to do with it. It's not worth the hassle, and the e-bay fees, if it only goes for £210. So I still might be a Wiiler Dealer, I just haven't decided yet lol

Thats what i mean, its a risk for anyone selling on ebay and what people bid it up to is not the sellers fault. I am glad you mentioned the ebay fees and then there is paypal too. When you add it all up its not much of a profit so all you people slating ebayers think about it. ;-)

Quite. Either that or goods that are just plain stolen.

Nope, for me anyone that puts up a Wii on Ebay (that is legitimately purchased) at the price they paid for it then makes a Wii profit is fine by me.

I guess I can say that though as I have my own Wii and I don't flog them on Ebay, but those who object to this re-selling practice seem to be jealous, either because they can't for some reason re-sell them as well, or because they haven't been able to get a Wii from a retailer and don't wish to buy from an Ebay seller.

Glad you can afford it matey. I want one to make some christmas money from but have to admit prices are dropping now.:)

I sold 20 direct from Amazon.De and sold them on Ebay for £269 each and shipped them straight to their addresses so i did not have to do anything just ordered them once they had paid.

When i sold mine on Ebay there were less than 2000 on there now there are over 7000 on.

:)

What I would do (if I had one to sell!) is calculate the ebay fees for listing a Wii, add those to the total that I paid for it (including shipping) and add a rough Paypal fee (if you accept Paypal and they take 4%) then list it at that grand total, either with a starting fee of the grand total, or with that as a reserve.

To be honest though, if you paid, say, £180 for yours and put it on Ebay you'd be sure to get at least £200 for it. Then again, you may get £250 or more! I can't see you making a loss, but as you say, the profit margin MAY be extremely small.

Actually, as I type this, I'm beginning to wonder WHY some people buy then re-sell the Wii's on Ebay now. Seems that the prices are dropping, so is it worth the risk and the hassle?

Hmmm.

So you sold them BEFORE you even had them???

What would you have done if suddenly you couldn't get hold of the Wii's to fulfill the orders and advance payments?

When i sold mine on Ebay there were less than 2000 on there are over 7000 on now.

That explains why the prices are dropping then!

You made a damn small profit then - did you sell them privately or on Ebay?

I would have had to source them from somewhere else there is always a way of getting them if you really need to.

Rather you than me. :)

sold them to friends
all you have to do is open ur mouth and say wii and people want them
had people phoning me up

i reckong i could sell another 10 tomrow if i had them

The profit margin far outweighed the risk. :-D

20x £269+ £10 postage = £279- £20 LISTING FEES AND PAYPAL FEES

£80 profit on each wii!!!!!!!!!

Total £1,600

I think the real winners in all this are Ebay/Paypal!

I suppose it's akin to gambling, but with a better chance of a win (albeit a relatively small win).

starting looking for a wii for xmas 2 months ago and could not believe the stock shortage in the uk.I very fortunately managed to reserve online with Argos a few times just as deliveries came in.I sold a few on ebay and covered the cost of the one i wanted for myself after £20 fees ebay and paypal.I admit i took advantage of the supply and demand scenario but have been left rather deflated by the whole episode really.I am so glad Argos have stopped people reserving these online, the res.numbers were being snapped up and sold on Ebay, however this is a major inconvenience for other genuine one off buyers who now have no other option but to visit the store on a daily basis and in my experience Argos were the only retailer who seemed able to obtain them.
I started to read all the threads about how to source wii's and feel genuinely sorry for people looking for one and can't get it. I helped out a few via Ebay but the fact that supply to the U.K. has undoubtedly been deliberately restricted(they are plentiful in the rest of the E.U.) to inflate the price and Amazon.de will not deliver to the U.K. a disgusting development, flouting the free movement of trade regulations as far as i am concerned and just sums up RIP OFF BRITAIN once more.
I think the only way to stop this in future is for everyone to stand their ground, don't panic buy for desirable items especially at peak times, hard i know when Santa is factored into the equation and see if the supply situation naturally sorts itself out, who knows it might be a wake up call for the manufacturers and retailers who think the "gullible English public will pay top price no matter what."
I wonder if other E.U citizens already adopt this stance?
All the best to anyone still looking.
As a footnote, i am flying to Germany tomorrow and baggage allowance permitted i will bring a couple back for friends i have found out are still looking for a Wii and they will be passed on at the same cost price to me, (plus a pint of Guinness!)
Thanks for reading and good luck.

can someone help me out here as your not allowed to sell a wii over rrp here and they cross ref with amazon to check price then i looked on amazon and it said this
67 used & new available from £273.69

so does that mean you could sell on here at that price as stated??

im not selling one just think its a bit unfair for the people that do wanna sell them at a profit
#34
If people had the foresight and wanted to take the risks I have no problem with them making money out of Wii's or anything else.
I do object to the gloating posts put on the hot deals board whoch serve only to wind up those people still looking for one as a genuine Christmas present and not as a source of profit.
Make the money, enjoy it but don't rub people's faces in it.

What it means is you can sell it for what Amazon sell it for and not what Amazon Marketplace sell it for as is what you have quoted.

It wasn't meant to be a catch all comment. I am aware there are people who don't feel the need to brag about their 'wiinumeration'.
You took a chance and you reaped the rewards - nothing wrong with that.
#38
Seems that a huge chunk of the last few days stock (there was a lot of it from many retailers) have gone straight on the bay, causing these low prices.

Will be interesting to see if things pick up again next week, and how many retailers get in more stock :)

Yup, sure is. However, remember that the price given is for the cheapest, there's plenty that are higher than that on offer, and they're still selling at up to £300 or more on Ebay (although the prices have generally dropped there due to the relative glut).
