I will be... chopping, peeling, dicing, slicing, boiling, roasting, basting, serving, eating, wasting, leaving,

Hubby will be...clearing, washing, drying, stacking

Kids will be...screaming, fighting, crying, playing

everyone will be... burping, farting, snoring

just another day in my happy household :whistling:

but then you won't be able to explain the presents you get. a better plan would be tell them about xmas, but just don't get them anythnig. leave a note in their stocking saying : no presents for you, too many instances of naughty this year, try again next year , sincerely the S man

Xmas without a roast - Unthinkable!

Roast parsnips where are they and yorkie puds and those little sausages wrapped in Bacon! They are the best bits and no one has mentioned them! Especially yorkshire puddings every roast absolutely must have yorkie puds!

You gotta love the old crimbo dinner!

I love christmas dinner but it was much better when I was a child. Its a social thing now more than a special meal. We are spoilt now and have roasts so often. Not complaining. I love it when the kids and the grandkids come round and we all sit down and eat, drink and jsut talk. Its lovely :-D :-D :-D :-D
#13
I agree, I love Chrsitmas dinner, but enjoy Sunday dinners loads too, when my eldest and her boyfriend come round, my youngest (still at home) and her boyfriend are all here for dinner, it spreads out into a 4 hour 'do', lots of food, and of course drink!! :-D
#14
The meal is definately a more social thing now, I wouldn't have it any other way though!

I loooooove Christmas dinner including all the veg and my mum makes the best stuffing ever!

My SIL mum taght me how to remove the bones from a turkey so that you can stuff it and once cooked carve it in big multi-flavoured slices (drool drool) making me hungry lol!

You forgot the bit about stuffing it with ham and pattie and stuffing.

Oh I'm Soooooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to chrimbo this year. Sil is doing all the cooking  Luckly she is fairly adept at it so it should be good

Yes its great. I had four girls and three of them have children so I have 5 grandchildren. The latest addition Aaliyah was born 5 weeks early on christmas day. She didnt want to miss out either. She will be 2 on xmas day. So we have lots to celebrate. We are a close family and love every second of it. I wish it were christmas every day :santa: :-D

We're going to hubby's dad & stepmum this yr, step mum is the worst cook ever
She makes gravy by frightening lukewarm water with a packet of bisto, and cooks meat so it can only be identified by Tony Robinson & The Time Team...

All good fun though!! I love Christmas :) Get so excited about spoiling the kids even more rotten than usual!!!!
Last year we absolutely filled our lounge with prezzies for them, youngest was only 5 months but eldest was 2 so we thought he'd run in there squealing and ripping things open.. he just kinda wandered in there, said "It's messy in here" then started playing with his old-as-he-is Scoop truck..

At least he didnt play with the boxes!

It took us about 4 hours to get everything out of the boxes- they bolt / wire toys to the box so you need a full tool kit to get everything out

Lol I have learnt my lesson after having two kids restlessly pacing yelling "can I play with it now" I remove all the packaging, wires, screws, unlock the combinations :giggle: etc, put batteries in and then put the toy back in the box and wrap

i was all up for the xmas spirit when i realised that i would be sunning myself in brazil. hard life:w00t:

And the child always wants to 'help' too :giggle:

I always assemble the prezzies then wrap them up :) Then on the day when my wee one unwraps her prezzies she gets more excited rather than just seeing a box

Christmas Dinner and all the trimmings is a MUST!!

Probably cooking for around 20 again this year...all get stuck in and I love it!!

As you would expect from me, I love christmas but hate the way some parents spoil kids.

I grew up with people in class laughing at me, as they got new bikes, latest games consoles and like £300 cash from uncles, aunts, grandparents etc, and all I got was a t shirt and a stocking with fruit and chocolate coins etc.

I love small presents at christmas, I just hate the tv when it talks about kids getting laptops and Playstation 3's and then kids who are disapointed they didnt get one like it is their right to get one.

Just bad memories I guess, but my parents love me and I love christmas and christmas dinner etc.
