No, he has composite - SCART is just the name of the type of adaptor (which can carry RGB too for instance).

OP - your 360 should have come with a standard AV cable - that's all you need.

Personally tho if your TV has a a SCART socket, get an RGB SCART cable (maplins do em for £14.99)

If "it is only yellow on my tv" you need the A/V cable...Yellow, Red, White
#14
If there is only the yellow input on your TV, you need to plug the yellow output into it. Then, there is a red and white, that are separate from the others - they are for the sound... plug those in.

The other red along with the blue and green, are if you have a high definition TV, which it sounds like you don't (otherwise you would have the red, blue and green inputs)....

This cable is multi-use - it comes with both the composite inputs and the component.... you just plug in the relevant ones depending upon your tv capabilities.

You don't need RGB Scart, but it would be a better picture than the standard AV cables that ship with the 360.

Why did you buy extra component cables, or did your 360 not have any others with it?

Apparently it improves the picture so i thought i'd give it a go. I'm so confused right now. Will this cable definitely not work?
#18
You don't need any other cable - just do as I said above, and make sure the switch on the cable is set to the option that is not HD

Ignore me - just seen you are not using the Microsoft cable, lol.... Yea, you need a different cable - that one is HD only :)

100% no - it's purely a component cable. Your TV will support

Composite
RGB / S-Video (extremely likely both or either)

You would use component cables on a HDTV or a device with component input (you'd see phono sockets marked as component Y/Br/Cr if it did).

Have you got a link to the FS/FT thread?
#23

Looks like you bought something without knowing what it was....

It might be prudent in future to ask Qs before purchasing!
#24
Well, component cables are for HD TVs... it's just that the official Microsoft one has the Yellow composite lead too, which this doesn't.

You'll just have to sell it on, I would say.....
banned#25
Yeah didn't realise i could not accept component on my TV :(
Ah crud, Reckon i can get some money back on ebay?

Just sell it on here... you aren't allowed to profit from it though, so you'd have to sell for what you paid for it (or less).... But at least there are no selling fees, unlike ebay.

No rules about selling for more than you bought it for. I think
But there are rules about selling for more than rrp.

Guy here is selling the official 360 component cable which has leads for composite on it too (i.e for your telly). If you don't have the yellow-white-red connections, you'd probably need a SCART adaptor too.

Pretty sure there's one about profiteering, but I may be wrong - they do seem to change quite often....

Edit: Just checked:

HUKD FS/FT Rules
(10) You must NOT list items for sale at higher than the recommended retail price. The marker of RRP will be determined by cross indexing with Amazon or other well known retailer. Profiteering is NOT permitted from items previously found at a lower price in the 'Deals' or ANY forum here.
